The motor was cogging badly with the 18T speed gearing, so I swapped back to the stock 13T pinion. It’s still cogging, so I pulled the motor apart to inspect it. It was running pretty hot. no thermal shutdown, but it had a strange burnt/electrical smell. I don’t feel resistance when spinning it from the shaft. It’s an older 2-pole VXL-3S system. Does this sound like the motor is cooked, or could the ESC be causing it? I’m getting a Max10 + 2400kv anyways. It if it is still good, I can rebuild it, I’m putting it in my TRX4.

I don’t see a lot of people setting up the limit strap this way. Does it not work? I got 85mm for both front and rear and internal bump stop for rear shocks.

I got a Slash 4x4 VXL HCG, Slash 4x4 Ultimate and Rustler 4x4 VXL on stock electronics, center diff (plastic one), gearings (13/54) and have fans on both ESCs and Motors.

I want to turn the Slash 4x4 HCG into monster slash with 4s Sledgehammer tires using an hex adapter. Yea I know they are huge but I want to give it a shot. I’m gonna be gearing down to 11/54 or 12/54. Traxxas says “Requires removal or modification of plastic motor end cap for proper fit” and I’m not sure what it means. Is t end cap is on the other end of the motor?

I want both the Rustler 4x4 and Slash Ultimate to be a “Speed” car and I have the included speed gears (18/54) installed and it cogs and gets over heated. Is 16/54 be a better set up? I know I can go a bit higher on rustler but like to hear what you guys are running.

Hi guys. I need suggestion from the Traxxas experts. I own a ton of Traxxas vehicles from trx4m to Xmaxx and I'm starting to understand the importance of shimming especially for bashers. I want to shim bearings, ring & pinion gears, spider gears and suspension components or anything that wiggles.

What shim sizes and thickness do you guys suggest I should get for all the vehicles such as Maxx, sledge, xmaxx, xrt, TRX4/6, 4-Tec and Slash/Rustler/Stampede?
