Anker Solix S2000 for refrigerator load shifting
I just bought a couple of Anker S2000 battery packs to do load shifting. I have a small solar setup but I still use power in the evenings (for AC) and overproduce in the morning, and I have time-of-use pricing to deal with as well. So one backup for the big refrigerator, and one for the smaller freezer.
I've got them programmed to charge during the day off-peak when the sun is up and solar power is abundant (about 8am to 4pm), and to run off battery power during the peak hours and overnight (4pm to 8am, around 16 hours).
It's only been a couple of days, but the freezer breezes through the night with ease. The refrigerator (which is huge; 30 cubic feet- we bought it during COVID) runs out of juice after about 14-15 hours, and its S2000 reaches 6% and switches to bypass mode.
I'm calling that mostly a win, so far so good. My theory is that nearly all my power for these units is provided by solar now, except for times when I need AC before 4 pm.
