Hi everyone,

I recently moved into a private house (not new, but “smart”) and I’m trying to bring some order to the existing systems. I’d really appreciate input from the experts here on two topics:

1. Aqara N100 Smart Lock – still “locked” to previous owner

There’s an Aqara N100 installed on the front door, but I cannot reset it. The lock asks for an Admin Password that I don’t have, and the previous owner is unwilling to remove the device from his app. I also don’t have the physical backup keys.

  • Is there any way to force a factory reset without the admin password? (Has anyone successfully performed a physical or logical “hack”/reset on this model?)
  • About the keys: is it possible to order just a compatible Aqara cylinder to get backup keys, or does this require replacing the entire lock unit?
  • Alternative: if the lock can’t be salvaged, can you recommend a modern smart lock with a similar form factor that fits the same door cutout — ideally without drilling or major modifications?

2. Replacing wall switches (lights & shutters) – looking for physical click

The house currently has Sonoff switches installed (some of them behave unreliably), and I want to replace everything with a single, consistent solution.

Requirements:

  • Not touch — I want real physical feedback (click / push), like a traditional switch.
  • Protocol: Strong preference for Zigbee.
  • Consistency / ecosystem: Would it make sense to go with Aqara wall switches to keep a unified ecosystem (assuming I stay with their lock)? Or is there another brand that offers both light switches and shutter switches, with the same design and good quality?
  • Does Aqara have a true smart shutter wall switch (not a module, an actual switch)?
  • Needs to be compatible with Israeli electrical standards.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has installed these products or dealt with a similar situation.

Thanks in advance!
