Aqara G400 video doorbell and chime

Hi all - so besides the little chime box that comes with the aqara doorbell, is the only other way to hear and get notifications in the home is with apple home pods?

Aqara U200 knob gets stuck after every turn (even off the door)

Hey everyone,
I'm having a frustrating issue with my Aqara U200 smart lock and I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if I just got a defective unit.
Basically, whenever the lock finishes locking or unlocking, it gets completely stuck. If I try to turn the key or the knob manually, it takes a lot of force, or I have to turn it slightly in the opposite direction first to get it release, after which it becomes smooth again.
I initially thought it was an alignment issue or tension with my door cylinder, so I completely unmounted the U200 from the door and tested it standalone without any key attached. The exact same thing happens. Even off the door, after a motor movement, the central axis stays locked tight until I manually force it back to release the clutch.
I've tried doing manual calibrations leaving extra clearance, tweaking settings, and I'm on the latest firmware version 3.0.0_085, but nothing fixes it.
Has anyone else experienced this issue where the internal clutch doesn't disengage properly after a turn, or should the knob always turn smoothly by hand when the motor stops? I'm considering returning it, but I want to make sure it's actually a defect first.
Thanks for any insights!

G400 Aqara Chime - USBC power cable

Do I have to keep the USB C power cable connected to the Aqara Chime of my G400, or is it just to charge?

Used to the Ring chime which was plugged into a power socket.

NAS storage issues.

Has anyone else had issues with Aqara NAS storage suddenly stopping working?

I had NAS recording working previously with my Synology, but it has stopped and I can no longer reconnect the cameras.

The really weird part is that Aqara Home seems to be showing a completely stale/cached NAS share list rather than actually querying the NAS.

A few things I've found:

  • I created a brand-new SMB share on my Synology, but Aqara doesn't show it. It only shows an old directory listing that no longer matches what's actually on the NAS.
  • I then tried selecting my Windows PC instead of the Synology. The PC has its own SMB shares, but Aqara still displayed the old Synology share listing.
  • I checked the Synology logs while doing this and there isn't even an SMB authentication attempt from the Aqara cams.
  • I've removed all NAS associations from Aqara.
  • I've completely uninstalled/reinstalled Aqara Home.
  • I even tried with a brand-new Aqara camera, and it still shows the exact same stale NAS information.

So this doesn't seem to be a Synology permissions/password/SMB issue. It looks like Aqara is somehow retaining or retrieving an old NAS/share listing and isn't actually querying the server during setup.

Has anyone else seen this? Or found a way to clear whatever NAS state Aqara is retaining?

I've raised a support ticket - but I'm still waiting for a reply.

G5 Pro AI is bad

I’ve moved over from Wyze to Aqara for about a month and the AI detection is worse than Wyze. Wyze was already pretty bad. I’d tried providing as much feedback to Wyze as possible to help train it but I don’t think it does anything. G5 Pro still sees lights from the headlights of passing cars as a person detected. Is there a way to train it? Maybe this whole AI thing is not trainable and it’s just pure marketing.

For the love of…

Aqara, please make your release notes better. This is so vague that it tells us almost nothing. What was the actual issue, and what changed to fix it?

The community is more than willing to test, provide feedback and submit tickets to help improve each aqara device. More transparency around firmware changes would make it much easier for us to understand whether an update actually addresses issues we’re experiencing.

Please give us proper release notes rather than “fix other known issues.”

Matter "Scene and Signal Sync" "Limited Trial" - what will happen after the trial?

I push scenes and signals from my G350's and E1's via Matter into Smartthings and it worked wonderfully. However, in the setup screen, it stated "Limited Trial". Does it mean that functionalities are limited or time limited until some trial period ended. So basically, what will happen after the trial period?

H2 US 2 buttons one channel

I installed two of these to work with 3 way switches. I am unable to get either switch to connect to either Apple home kit or Aqara app. Tried zigbee and thread. No luck. I have an Apple 4k home hub and also a M3 Aqara hub. I have several H2 US two button two channels installed and a doorbell, G5 camera hub, and 4 U400 locks. All work properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Aqara G5 Pro Outdoor Camera: wiring question

I recently purchased the Aqara G410 doorbell camera and I’m looking to put a G5 Pro outdoor camera on the back of my house.

However, I’m unable to figure out whether this camera can be wired directly unto the house electricity cables, or that it needs a USB-C type outlet.

In short: I had my electrician pull all new cables throughout the house as well as pull one to the backyard. I want to connect the outdoor camera directly unto the cable so that it is powered 24/7 and not have to create an outlet or something on the outside of the house.

ChatGPT hasn’t been able to help me figure this out.. so I hope one of you knows more!

Thanks!

Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1

Hey folks. I've been given 3 of these units. I only have the latest IKEA Dirigera hub and Google Home. Do I need another hub to make use of these? It would be so much more convenient to have one hub for all devices regardless of brand. I'm not up to speed with this automation stuff so if you could please help, I'd appreciate it, thank you.

U200 Alternatives

I bought 3 of these U200 locks 2 years ago. All 3 of them have now failed in the same way. They make this horrible grinding sound as they try to turn the deadbolt. Aqara did replace one just under a year ago, and that one is still mostly working. The other 2 started having issues about 6 months ago.
I’ve been able to limp them along by needing to lock or unlock several times before they actually work, and by recalibrating them constantly while trying to get Aqara to replace them as well.
Looking around at other posts, it’s pretty clear these locks are just trash and the company is paying for positive reviews. So has anyone found greener pastures after fighting with these expensive, cheap locks? Something that still uses the HomeKit “Home Key” and is actually reliable?

Why buy G5 instead of G100?

I have 2 G100 already. I have a U100 Lock and a G400 Doorbell camera as well as a M100 hub. If I don’t need POE and was getting the wireless version of the G5 besides the upgraded video quality which I can’t imagine is that much better. Why should I get the G5 instead of the G100 at 5x the cost? Is the quality that much better? I’d love to be convinced to get the G5 but it doesn’t make sense to me.

Aqara Lock using existing door sensor

I have asked Aqara many times and their reply always been an "um"

I wonder what's stopping them for using an existing Aqara door sensor paired with their lock to know the door state? Why they wanna force us to use that crappy in built "assumption" mechanism?
