Rant: Right turns on red still take far too long

I do about 4 right turns at stop lights every day and if you don’t go, you’re stuck behind another line of traffic.

I nearly always have to disengage in order for it to get going. If I pedal down while in FSD, I get the red warning like I just messed up somehow.

I can see what it’s doing. Gentle full stop at the red light. Creep up slowly. Wait until there’s an entire football field worth of space until the next car, then move out slowly into the intersection.

As a human, I’m already looking left 25-50 yards before I get to the red light. Then I smoothly and efficiently move through it.

Just a quick rant this morning. Thanks for reading.

FSD has been very impressive except this one strange outlier that happened on the way home tonight.

f150 has about 5 or 6 2x4 boards stacked up, all 10-15 foot long. Bed down. Wood jutting out the back, with a red washcloth flag. All standard stuff.

I was right behind him in heavy traffic and I was expecting it to keep the standard following distance, FROM THE WOOD. It seems to me the distance from the bumper, though. The wood was constantly within 6-7 FEET from my windshield until I took over out of fear it wasn’t seeing the extra variable.

I sent the big report with a verbal about what I was seeing. Just curious if anyone else has ever noticed something similar with additional width or length from a standard vehicle.

… and again going from stop to slow forward roll?

This is juuuuust loud enough to hear while on FSD, but not loud enough to be concerned with. I just wanted to make sure it’s normal, or if it’s not, get it looked at.

It seems to be coming from around the pedals perhaps?
