First time buyer - seeking advice on fixing fabric excess
Hello Everyone, I’ve recently bought my first pair of selvedge denim and i’m looking for some tips on how to deal with an issue I have encountered with my new pair.
During my recent trip to Japan I made it over to the legendary Hinoya store and bought a pair of their in house denim, the specific model is the Burgus Plus - 1928 Cinch Back 928. Now while trying out different models in the dark changing room and being a bit overstimulated by the crowded environment I did not notice that the pair had some excess fabric bunching up in the back causing some unflattering creases. The sales assistant helping me also never brought it up and recommended that specific pair as being the most flattering so I naively ended up going for that one.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of this? I know from some research that this specific pair is modeled after older denim and that it will never have that “modern” structured look so I do not expect miracles.
I’ve only worn the pair once since getting it because i’m worried that I’ll get some ugly fades from it. It also, in my opinion, doesn’t look very flattering.
I have asked ChatGPT for some advice and it suggested I give the denim a cold soak to soften the fabric and manually stretch out the area while it’s still wet to try to get rid of the folds. It also suggested that over time it might just go away by itself, however as a total novice i’m a bit hesitant to trust the clankers advice.
Thank you so much in advance to everyone for sparing any time and advice to help me out :)
