Main reasons for a single vibrating note?

Hello all,

I posted a few weeks ago about some snapped butt springs and you were all very helpful. I had some vibrating keys and assumed that'd be the issue since it was the main issue I could see. A technician came and fixed them and put some new bushings on the pedal rods in case they were causing the bushings.

He then put all the casing back on and played it and there were no vibrations, and then for a few days it was great with no vibrations.

But now a few days later the vibrations are back in the same sort of area, around the F# above middle C.

What other things may be causing this vibration? And why might it come and go?

Thank you

What are these parts called?

Hello,

I have an upright Welmar.

I was looking for coins etc under my keys to try and find the source of buzzing and I found that some of these metal springs on the backside of the action seem to have had their ends snapped off and so aren't holding onto the bit of wire

What are these springs called so I can describe the issue to someone?

Thank you,

Transposing older music?

Are there any instrumentalists who can offer advice on transposing older, poorer quality recordings?

My favourite pianist is Erroll Garner but his recordings tend to be 40s-60s so a lot his runs ends up sounding quite muddy if I try to slow them down at all, but they're otherwise too fast for me to figure out!

Any tips?

Improvising Help?

Hello,

I'm a pianist, but I imagine this should apply to all musicians regardless of instruments.

I'm struggling a bit with hearing anything other than what I play. When I just listen to music, I can improvise melodies, runs, chords and basslines in my head and vocally over it, but when I'm sat at the piano I genuinely can't recall any ideas while playing, or even hear how a tune should go instead of what I have been playing.

Does anyone have any tips on how to isolate music in your head from what you're hearing, and how to translate it in real time to playing?
