Crafting and downtime handout

Hi guys! There was someone here that had made a really cool downtime handout for players, with different rules about the downtime activities and crafting rules.

Do you guys know the one? Do you have it? I seem to have lost it 😭

How long until I'm shown all the hidden aspects?

So far I've only gotten the sword's and the spear's hidden aspects. I keep waiting for the others to trigger. I've gotten out only 5 times, could that be it?

Extra/expanded missions or quests?

Hi everyone! Do you guys have more missions to give your parties? From factions, I feel it is the easiest route.

We did the delerium hunt, and my players avoided random encounters, so I didn't feel like they should be levelling up to level 3 quite yet. I need to give them things to do before they reach level 3 and sending them off to the Rat's Nest.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

How did you explain the Haze expanding?

Just trying to see how others did this. My players know that delerium is not to be touched or else you get contaminated. They think that rats/ratlings are helping the disease spread.

They have family in the surrounding area of Drakkenheim so to elevate the pressure, they've been receiving news of their towns starting to have issues with crops and illnesses (water carries delerium shards). They haven't thought about the river helping the spread the crystals.

But what about the Haze? Which is the true source of the contamination and what they should stop. Magic helps to make it grow, right? So I was thinking about making it so that now that more factions are doing stuff at once, it's pulling at the edges of the Haze and making it expand. The reach also grows because of the crystals that the river washed away. So they're acting as tethers and "calling" to the Haze.

I have very detail oriented players. They will remember everything 😂So I want to make sure I have a good narrative here.

List of all the ways one can stay in the City and avoid the Haze?

Hi! Pretty much what the title says. I just wanna make sure I've got them all.

So, being underground seems to do the trick. The HL has the Underground Prison under the Garrison.

Above the Haze seems to work as well, once the players take over the Cosmological Tower, was it?

Buckledown Row is also mostly underground, but they have buildings on the surface. I'm guessing they avoid contamination by sleeping underground or in Emberwood.

The dwarves in the Scar avoid contamination by going in and out, and resting in Emberwood, yes?

What other ways are there?

Heirs and the Seals of Drakkenheim

Hi everyone!

I have a player who is doing the Heir quest, and I am feeding them info about the Seals. I just wanna make sure I got it right.

  • They're not needed to rule, but they would help:

Coronation, p 193:

"Technically speaking, these artefacts aren't actually required for a new monarch to reign over Westemär, but holding those items conclusively places a potential claimant in the seat of political power. A rightful ruler seated upon the Throne of Drakkenheim will be able to unite the nobility of Westemär once more, but one without them will have a much more difficult time commanding the respect and cooperation of the wider nobility."

During the Coronation ritual, you'd need them all + the Throne. Are they 5 Seals + the Crown? Or 6 Seals + the Crown?
- The Coronation Ceremony portion of the Castle Drakken chapter mentions 6 without the Crown.

But then the Seals of Drakkenheim portion in the App D mentions 5+Crown.

Where did the Phylactery come from and do they need it? Which one is the right list?

And finally, the ceremony unlocks the Crown's wishes? If I understand correctly, a claimaint to the throne could become monarch anyway, but to perform the ceremony you need all the Seals. I guess my question is, then why would you need all the Seals? Why go through the ceremony at all. To close the rift? TBH, I haven't read the Castle Drakken chapter entirely.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks everyone! I guess the Appendix D is missing the Phylactery in the list of Seals. And yes, getting access to the Wishes is a big deal. I'm gonna slowly feed that as a rumour to them, before confirming that they do exist.

Players think delerium is dangerous and don’t want to harvest it

We’re just starting but so far they’ve all expressed their belief that it should be left alone. So how can I hook them into the Delerium Run? Which basically closed the level up from two to three?

Have you been here before? How have you handled it? I’ve seen previous advice on making the players closer to SO or FF, and they might be inclined to join SO, but I would still like advice.

EDIT: You guys are all leaving valid posts, but I forgot to mention that I am a new DM, and I am wondering how to get them from level 2 to 3 if they want to skip the Delerium Run quest at the end of chapter… 3? 4? The milestone. So what other things do I have to make them level up?

Do you tell your players that they’ve met a Faction Lieutenant?

My players are starting to meet them and I was wondering, do I just tell them, to make it exciting? Or is there any reason I don’t know to keep it quiet?

Silly question, I know. I just wanted some insight into what others have done.

Food and rations?

How do you guys handle buying food and rations? I want to make money and food (the importance of everything being imported) matter.

I was thinking of a mechanic like Baldur’s Gate? Where you need rations to take a long rest. That way, the party would have to always have some available, but it’s not a drag.

Thoughts?
