How is the build/screen quality of the Xbox Ally X compared to Steam Deck OLED?

Obviously, it’s not OLED! But how bad is it?

I currently use my Switch 2 as my main console and also a PS5 Pro for AAA games that are obviously better to play on my 4k OLED - but I much prefer to play handheld these days with kids at home, but I’m looking to buy a PC handheld.

Steam Deck I’ve had before which I loved for older games and emulation but it’s showing its age, and the Xbox Ally X I’m interested in, but the smaller screen (albeit higher resolution) is a bit of a bummer.

I also thought the build quality on the Deck was fantastic but I’ve read mixed reviews on the Ally X.

I’m mainly covered on AAA games on my S2/PS5, so it’s pretty much for everything else.

So it’s Steam Deck OLED vs Ally X

Thanks for any advice!

SIB Xbox Series X or Xbox ROG Ally X for future Xbox exclusives?

I currently have a PS5 Pro and a Switch 2 which is my main device as I’ve been enjoying handheld a lot since buying my Switch 2 at launch. I still use my PS5 for more graphically intensive games on my LG G4 OLED.

Since the recent Xbox show I’ve been thinking of picking up an Xbox again for Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, and possibly more if Xbox keep to their most recent policy change (ha!)

I’ve also started looking at the Xbox ROG Ally X, and while it is ugly as sin IMO, it is definitely considerably more powerful than a Steam Deck which I did used to own and loved, but is really showing its age and chances are won’t play Gears decently.

I’m also planning to install SteamOS on the Ally if that is what I go ahead with.

I also have a big digital library on both Xbox and Steam from the past.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
