SIB Diablo 4 or Doom: The Dark Ages premium edition?

I should start off this post by saying that I love the doom games, Eternal is probably my fav shooter of all time but I am growing a little tired of the formula. Does Dark ages change the gameplay up so that it doesn't feel like eternal or 2016 ? The premium edition which comes with the dlc is about the same price as Diablo 4 right now and I'm not sure which game would id like better.

I never played a diablo game or an ARPG for that matter but it does look really interesting and the fact that I can play with friends is also a big draw.

Which game would you guys suggest?

SIB Pillars of Eternity?

Hey yall,

I'm looking for an old school pc rpg vibe and I stumbled across Pillars of Eternity - it seems to have all I'm looking for:

- grim setting / world

- old school rpg mechanics (in terms of dialogues, builds, characters customization etc.)

- interesting story

I only have 2 doubts, I've never played crpgs that are not turn based (I'm an avid BG3 player) - are the mechanics chaotic for a new comer? I don't know how I would handle multiple characters in real time during a diffcult combat.

The other thing is that I read that it is a very slow paced game in terms of story progression - which I don't necessarily dislike but I have to find something really good to clinge on to (either plot wise or mechanic wise) would you say this is a big problem for the game?

I would like to start with POE 1 and eventually if I like it proceed with the second entry.

Thanks

Lego Batman: legacy of the dark knight?

I love Batman Arkham, I like SOME Lego games like skywalker saga and Lego city undercover. I heard this new game mixes up the combat. Looks like it draws a lot from the Arkham games’ mechanics more than the Lego games

$70 for a Lego game is a LOT, but I can make it work if it has lots of hours of gameplay and it’s good

sib monster hunter world if i mostly play solo?

none of my friends play monster hunter, so i'd probably be doing almost everything solo. the combat and monster designs look awesome, but i'm worried the grind might feel tedious without a group. i usually like games where you slowly improve gear and builds over time, and i don't mind learning difficult mechanics if the payoff is worth it. i played dauntless a little while back and thought it was fun for a while, but it eventually got repetitive for me. for people who mostly played monster hunter world alone, did it still stay fun long term?

Is skyrim worth it for me?

I purchased the game on steam a while ago but i didnt like it because i found the combat very boring, it was just run up to enemy and spam attack until they die.

However there seem to be mods that overhaul the combat to help remedy it, but idk how good they are for me.

I am also a big story person, and i heard that the main storyline is serviceable, but some side quests are good from what i heard?

Also, if mods are required to help me enjoy the game, i am willing to do some modding to help remedy some issues, although mods can only do so much

The thing i value most in a game is its story, followed by gameplay, then the world.

I am able to justify a serviceable gameplay if the story (and other aspects of the game, but mainly the story) is strong enough to justify (such as omori, im not a turn based fan)

some of my fav games as a reference and what i most enjoy about them

  • Elden ring (combat and world)
  • undertale/deltarune (story and character)
  • expedition 33 (combat, story and character)
  • hollow knight and silksong (combat and exploration)
  • omori (story)

edit: forgot to mentioned i refunded the game, so if i wanted to play it i would have to buy it again

What should I buy if I’m looking for a game I can sink hours into

So here’s the deal: I want to purchase a game that’ll:
A. Give me a lot of content
And
B. Entertain me for awhile

Here’s what I don’t want:

  1. No multiplayer focused games. (Friends aren’t willing to try a new game rn)
  2. No card/card focused games. (Just not a fan of games that use cards)
  3. No puzzle games. (Not in the mood to think hard)

Here’s what I prefer:

  1. FPS
  2. RPG
  3. Open world
  4. Turn-based
  5. Strategy
  6. PvE
  7. Horde shooter
  8. Survival game
  9. Immersive sim

Here’s some genre’s I’m iffy about:

  1. RTS (I don’t have experience with em so idk if I’ll like one)
  2. Roguelite (they feel really overdone)
  3. Extraction shooter (not a fan of PvP but I do enjoy some PvE ones)
  4. Racing (not a car person but I do like customizing a car)

I’d also like to ask for people to really dig deep and recommend some truly hidden gems. I already have most of the big name indie games like ULTRAKILL, balatro, megabonk, etc. I also have a ton of AA games as well. I’m looking for really hidden gems. Games that never show up on the front page of steam. Games with maybe only a couple hundred players.

THATS the kind of hidden gem I want.

[SIB] Space Marine 2 for $18 if I'm "meh" on 40k?

It's on a pretty deep Steam sale. I've dipped my toe into 40k (Rogue Trader, one of the Eisenhorn books by Dan Abnett) and I like some of it, but have never found myself "bought in" with respect to the setting. I'd say I "respect" 40k and Warhammer in general more than I "like" it.

That said, I've heard Space Marine 2 runs well, looks good, and has Left 4 Dead-esque gameplay (albeit 3rd-person), which I tend to like in a shooter. I've also heard it's short, but for a deep sale maybe that's fine.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Elden Ring, Crimson Desert, or KCD2

Trying to decide between Elden Ring, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Crimson Desert.

starting to love games with:

Strong RPG progression/builds, immersive open world, rewarding combat/exploration, and a game I can sink 100+ hours into

I loved BG3 (Currently playing DOS2), cyberpunk, RDR2, Expedition 33, for the roleplay/build variety, but I also enjoy good action combat and exploration.

I know they're all pretty different and I also have reservations about all 3.

ER: I found dark souls extremely difficult, to the point where I stopped playing it. But i've heard amazing things about it and I like the open world aspect

KCD2: Heard the combat was hard and that it's more of a simulation game (Still open minded enough to try it - didn't think i'd like bg3 but i've now done 2 playthroughs lol)

Crimson Desert: Hearing a lot of good things about the amount of content and updates but the lack of a great narrative is sort of a negative for me.

Any help would be appreciated and if you have other recommendations I would love to hear them. Looking for newer games too.

Borderlands 4 if i play Solo?

I’ve played Borderlands 1, 2 and 3 but none of the spin off games. I loved the first two games, BL3 not so much. There were some quality of life improvements in BL3 like the gunplay was more refined and map fast travel traversal but i hated the NPC characters and the storyline.

Does Borderlands 4 address those things? Is it a fun game? Can you become OP early on? I remember dying a lot in Borderlands 3.

Which Vault Hunter would you suggest i play considering i played as Mordecai, Zero and Zane in the last 3 games.

TL;DR - Should i buy Borderlands 4 if i play the game solo?

Should I play subnautica 1 or 2?

I just finished Windrose and have decided on subnautica as my next game. But I'm really not sure if I should play the first one or just jump straight to the new subnautica 2? The graphics is my main concern with subnautica 1 as it's from 2018. Is the graphics that much better in subnautica 2 or will subnautica 1's graphics still feel fine? Also I'm affraid to burn out if playing subnautica 1 first and then potentially never playing subnautica 2. On the other hand it's a shame not to play subnautica 1 as it's getting really good reviews. So where would you start if you never played any of them?

What games should i play?!

Recently, I’ve been feeling a bit lost looking at my Steam library with nothing to play. If someone could suggest some games, I would really appreciate it.

Some games I’ve really enjoyed in the past are Fallout 4, Far Cry 5, GTA, Detroit: Become Human, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Uncharted. I'm really hoping to find something I can put a lot of time into and truly feel like I'm part of the world. ty!

Elder Ring or Witcher 3 for PS5?

Firstly, I'm a casual gamer. I've previously played Skyrim (also on PS5) but I found it overwhelming, a lot going on, looks much older (I know it is old). I didn't dislike it, just struggled abit with choosing the various characters, all the potions etc.

I'd like to try Elder Ring or Witcher 3. Any recommendations on which to buy out of the two?

Elden Ring or Resident Evil Requiem?

Hey everyone. I know these two games have nothing to do with each other, but I have the money to buy one of them and I'd like the opinion of those who have played them to help me out.

I've only played Skyrim as an RPG, and I've finished Resident Evil 7, 8, and half of 4 Remake. Which one would you choose if you could only pick one?

I can get Requiem or Elden Ring for the same price. I know it goes on sale for cheaper, but I want to get something to play right away.

I really like exploration and atmosphere in games and not so much Souls-like combat, which makes me hesitant about Elden Ring, but I liked Skyrim and Elden Ring map seems huge to explore. Anyway… please give me your opinions.

Looking for a loot-y game

Essentially the title.

I really like loot and stat-driven games, where there can be progressive loot rarities, such as in Diablo, Sulfur, Borderlands, etc. as well as the enchanted gear in games like Oblivion or Skyrim. I even enjoy the looting aspects of Tarkov and Gray zone Warfare, as well.

I’m finding myself in a bit of a gaming lull because I’m not sure if the game I’m even looking for “exists”. I’m not averse to grinding or anything like that and would prefer single-player/solo-friendly games.

Games I’ve played:
Borderlands 1 - 4
Diablo III
Lost Epoch
World of Warcraft
Grim Dawn
Sulfur
TES: Oblivion
Skyrim
Barony
The Division I and II
Dead Island franchise
Dying Light franchise
No Rest for the Wicked
Tarkov (mainly SPT)
GZW
Titan Quest
Terraria
Valheim w/ Epic Loot mod
Assassin’s Creed RPG Era games (Origins and Odyssey)

Should I buy Batman telltale shadows edition?

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Batman telltale shadows edition is an edition that gives you all 10 episodes of the telltales series and the enemy within and a shadows mode which gives the game a kind of noir aesthetic. The price is usually 11.99, so the reason I’m asking is cause I have not played any telltale games, so I don’t know whether the game will work for me or will have enough value. I like the story, but for example, I don’t know how impactful my choices actually are besides the choices in the finale and stuff like that.

Humble indie bundle or save for summer sale

I’m trying to decide between a few game purchases with a limited budget. First option is the Humble Indie Icons bundle because I’m interested in SUPERHOT, Risk of Rain Returns, Slime Rancher, and maybe Starbound/The Witness, but I already own Celeste and I’m not really interested in Citizen Sleeper or Bloodstained. Second option is just buying Neon White($4.79) + Subnautica($5.24) instead since those are games I know I’d enjoy. Third option is forgetting all that and just grabbing Devil May Cry 5 for $3.37 because it’s super cheap plus new style of games that i want to try and saving the rest for Summer Sale or for Hollow Knight: Silksong later (around $8 in my region). I’m also kind of burned out on Terraria-like games, which makes me unsure about Starbound. What would you do in this situation?

SIB Saros if I love rogue-likes and rogue-lites but have less generous feelings about Returnal?

Saros is a feast for the eyes. It's hard to think of a game on the market right now that looks cooler. I guess that makes me the gaming equivalent of a baby excited by jangling keys.

But I bounced off of Returnal pretty hard. I am the filthy casual. I was filtered by the overwhelming difficulty and felt like I wasn't making any meaningful progress after slamming myself face-first into the brick wall again and again and again.

I play plenty of rogues. Hades 1 and 2, Dead Cells, Tiny Rogues, Voidigo -- these are some of my favorite games of all time. A big budget rogue in the vein of Returnal should have been the game for me, but something about it feels different. Unfortunately, I can't put my finger on just what that "something" is. I just know that I had a terrible time of going nowhere fast and deleted it from my console storage.

I do love chaotic, fantasy-flavored shooters in the vein of Remnant 1 and 2, too.

I've seen so many mixed reactions to Saros.

Door number one: It's just like Returnal! Play Saros if you loved Returnal!

Door number two: It's way different from Returnal! It added way more momentum that lets you fall forward even if you're getting mulched! Come back stronger!

Door number three: It's a poor man's Returnal! They gutted so much of what made the first one work and turned it into generic crowd-pleasing AAA slop!

Help me read the room. Give me your hot takes.

GTA5 or Elden Ring?

Hi I know the comparison seems bizarre, but I recently played RDR2 and loved it, and GTA5 seemed like the natural next step to explore peak rockstar games, especially since gta6 pc release will be delayed by another year or two. That said, I know the game is dated, and I've had Elden Ring on my list for quite some time now. I've never tried a souls type game, closest I got was Jedi Fallen Order or God of War, though I understand the two hardly compared in terms of boss fights. It's just that I've seen both games garner huge amounts of praise.

I like open worlds, I'm new to keyboard controls so I might suck at Elden Ring for a bit, but I do expect to adapt sooner or later. My concern is more to do with insane technical knowledge needed to play the game, I've tried Witcher 3 and hated it for how much it overcomplicated fights with every type of monster, there's too much stuff to keep track of with runes, elixirs, skills points, weapons etc. I don't mind that kinda system as long as it's not shoved in my face and isnt completely useless in implementation.

Biggest reason I'm holding of GTA is cause I'm slightly bored of shooter games. RDR2 was fantastic, but GTA from the looks of it doesn't seem anywhere close in terms of storytelling. FYI I like lore, and I read alot and I've read ASOIAF and loved it, as long as every boss fight in Elden ring isn't an exposition dump I presume I'd be fine. Thoughts?

What I loved most about RDR2 was how much you could interact with the world, and how well thought out everything seemed as far as side quests and NPC go. I don't want my world to feel lifeless with bland npcs like just cause.

EDIT: I wanna note I want a game that I don't get bored of and that I can get lost in, I've fucked up my life and desperately need an escape to immerse myself into.
