Madison to hold special City Council Q&A over Willy Street response
"The Madison City Council plans to hold a Q&A-style discussion Monday on the city’s response to the encampment established at the intersection of Williamson and South Baldwin streets following the police shooting of Corey Ruiz.
The virtual discussion, scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, is intended to give council members an opportunity to question Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Police Chief John Patterson and staff from the city attorney’s office and the public health, finance, public works, community development and fire departments, City Council President Sabrina Madison said.
The discussion will not include public comment, but residents can watch it through the city’s media website, go.madison.com/madison-media.
Madison encouraged residents to email their City Council representatives with specific questions but stressed that the meeting is intended to focus on the city’s response to the protests and encampment that followed rather than the police shooting that prompted them."
