Wow. Just wow.
The apartments on Old Sauk Rd have been listed.
I understand taxes are high in Madison and building costs are too. And these look nice. But for the love of God when will the price gouging from these landlords ever end?
Has anyone else encounter the lady who walks around yelling at people? She will mumble or yell into her hand like she’s trying to hide it. She also will scream in peoples faces when they walk by? She usually has a grey jacket and a red backpack. She screamed in my face and it was so awful I started crying. Has anyone else encountered this?
She is also often on Broom street
Rant: I’m a graduating student and I’ve been fighting this battle for years. My old apartment that I pay way too much has been neglected for probably decades by my slummy landlord is impossible to clean. I’ve been scrubbing with bar keepers friend and doing surfaces and decluttering. None of this is cutting it and it’s hard to explain to others who have not lived in an area monopolized by slum lords that NO, THERE IS NO BETTER OPTION.
UW students have do not have much of a choice because the landlord lobbying group has been successful at lobbying the university not to build more student housing.
We do not have a choice but to occupy the greater downtown area and slumlords have taken advantage of this.
Most of us cannot afford to live in the new luxury high rise student apartments and they sit at least half empty after their first year.
This rant is because nobody deserves to live in dangerous housing- even students.
My husband and I can only get soft serve when we go up north to Briq's or from McDonald's. Are there any places nearby that we have yet to discover?

My mom sent this to me from my parents house on the lake. Just spectacular
Newly installed in our neighborhood on High Crossing Blvd, and two more on Nelson Rd on Madison's far east side, near Fire Station 11
They were put up on new posts, angled toward the road with a wire down to a small metal box. Seem fairly permanent.
Any idea what they are for?
Parked at the quarry hill recreation area lot near Verona/Fitchrona rd and went for a walk on the military ridge trail going West. Went off the paved trail into a grassy hiking area and stumbled across this after walking maybe half a mile. Anyone know what it is?
I’m trying to get permanent sterilization, but SSM won’t do it because they’re a catholic organization. I’m willing to look further out in Wisconsin as well. Thanks.
Howdy, just an update from Rutabaga Paddlesports. My wife Stephanie and I are the owners.
Last year we intended to close, sell the inventory the property, and move forward in my chaplaincy work.
Then a wonderful thing happened. A few hundred of you convinced me to remain open, and instead put the shop up for sale. We decided that we should keep Rutabaga open, and I pushed my training back to the fall.
We're grateful for your support, and thank you for telling people we're still open and doing well. The shop is still for sale, and we continue to interview potential owners. When we find the right one, we'll let you know.
Good paddling,
Darren
