Potential New pre-LCI E38 Owner - What's Your Ownership Experience Like?

I am currently working on purchasing a pre-LCI 1998 740il with 137k miles. It is part of an estate sale, getting it for what I believe to be a relatively friendly price so it's hard to turn down. It's not exactly a desirable spec: non-sport, silver exterior, gray interior, but it seems to be clean and properly maintained. Not sure if I want to keep it yet, but I love the E38 body lines and would be nice to at least own it for a short period, hence my interest. Just curious on what everyone's ownership experience has been like. Do you ever regret buying an E38?

Contractor F'ed Up Our Brand New Floors, What Do

Back in January we ripped out our carpet in our newly purchased home in favor of Robbins engineered wood floors. Floors looked nice and tight, for 2 weeks and then everything started falling apart. We're seeing crowning, floating, planks all coming apart, massive gaps. Not just in one area of the house, but everywhere that's got engineered wood floors. We called the contractor and told him what was going on, naturally he blamed it on the product. So our supplier put in a claim with the manufacturer, who then sent out a 3rd party inspector to see what was going on. The inspection report was clear: the floors were not installed properly. Our contractor only used adhesive on the subfloor, no additional adhesive on the tongue and groove, no fasteners. He continues to argue that the supplier stated he can glue or float it, our subfloors being a mix of particle boards in some areas and plywood in others, he claims he could not use fasteners. How do we proceed from here? The floors are getting worse each day, we spent all of our remaining money to get our floors done and it's gone to shit. Our contractor keeps arguing it's the product fault and can't trust the report because the manufacturer hired their own inspector despite us telling him it's an independent third party. Last thing I want to do is get an attorney involved, but I have one handy if needed.

Tl;dr: our contractor fucked up the installation of our floors, still won't take liability for it.

Edit: Our contractor is continuing to do his own "investigation" and has kept asking to stop by to look at the leftover materials. He just informed me that our subfloors are not particle boards, but rather fiber.
