Skunk killing baby deer?
How common is it for skunks to kill baby deer? Google is saying its very rare but its happening right next to me right now. It’s dark so I couldn’t capture video (nor do I really want to film something like that) but what is definitely a skunk seemed to be attacking what is definitely a baby deer based on its silhouette and the sounds its making. It seemed like it was trying to drag it into its den. The shouting of the deer has been going on for almost 30 minutes now.
Some other ppl in the neighborhood tried to separate the skunk by throwing sticks/ rocks even though I told them not to, since this is just kind of circle of life stuff i assume. But how rare is rare according to google? There’s nothing I should do here, right? As much as it sucks to hear a baby deer in distress I figure I should just let nature do its thing.
