Replaced the front tire today

Unsure how many km the previous tire, a Bridgestone Battlax A41, ran but it's already 18,170km so maybe it ran for over 10,000km. The new tire is a Michelin Pilot Street Radial. Still 120/70-17 but the profile is different.

I wasn't able to take videos but I did clean and rebalanced the wheel with the new tire and TPMS. Also cleaned the brake caliper and pads. Then cleaned and greased the axle, spacers, and rubber seals. Lastly, I've properly aligned the forks and brake caliper before torquing everything down.

It's tire change time again.

Need to do this now because I have a couple of upcoming out-of-town gigs. Better to be safe.

Gonna bring it to a tire shop early tom and gonna clean the brake pads and caliper too. Amazed at how balanced the front wheel is even if I didn't have a proper balancer when I did it. Hopefully, I'll be able to balance it again with the new tire.

Outgoing tire is a Bridgestone Battlax A41 120/70-17. Incoming is Michelin Pilot Street Radial 120/70-17.

The Bridegstone front wore way faster than the rear (not replacing yet, still lots of life and honestly just so good) which is odd but apparently normal for the Battlax A41 as far as I've read from forums. While my rear tire has very little chicken strips, most of the front's sides seem to be not touching the ground at all. So maybe the profile was just so wonky. Looked great in photos though!

I've used the Michelin Pilot Street Radials on my KTM 390 before and I was pretty happy with them. Very affordable but pretty good on most conditions too. But I used the stock size before though so I'm curious how a 120/70 will work on the Vit.

The bike's alright

I'm tiptoeing. My bike's a little bit taller with the larger tires and a longer 320mm shock. The kickstand was extended by around 2 inches so it doesn't lean too much while on the stand. Don't worry, the kickstand has held up for over a year already with no visible cracks or warping on the mount even if I turn the bike around like this all the time. 😅

Always fun riding to work

Audio from the intercom mic is just too noisy and cleaning it up muffles the sound so bad. My fault for frying my audio recorder.

You're probably tired of seeing my Vit 😅

Just incredibly happy with the bike. Been through so many crappy roads, rain, fog, mud, a drop in a rocky dirt, and a crash that took us out for about a month. Almost 20,000km now with all DIY maintenance and mods and it's running beautifully. Sure, there are fair bit of scratches, bad paint retouches, and even had to weld a bracket with my crappy welding skills but I still can't help but admiringly stare at it for a moment whenever we go for a ride or when at home. So yeah, let me just proudly share again some photos of my little Vit.

After back to back rides through dodgy provincial roads

My front tire is almost done, weird that it needs replacement before my rear (both Bridgestone Battlax A41). Also had to weld the attachment point for the engine hanger where the crash slider screws into. Probably developed a crack when I dropped the bike on a rough road. it was a small drop though so weird that it was that side that eventually broke off instead of the other side where I took a harder fall and slide when I crashed. I need to figure out a different way to mount the MDLs since the radiator currently partially blocks them. Still works though. Just noticed that the radiator actually sticks out more on the left side. 😅
