I had asked opinions on pre 2024 and 2024 models recently for my first bike i checked a 2024 out at the dealership lowkey didnt like it aesthetically I was a bit disappointed as I was walking out I saw a 2023 a guy was pulling up on instantly fell in love with the bike I talked to him he let me try his bike 1 week later I just picked up a new to me 2022 svartpilen 401 , I am ecstatic got a crazy bargain on it , give me yalls best tips for this bike and just a new rider in general already have some cosmetics coming in haha will keep yall posted
Had a 2021 125cc before i got my 401 earlier this year back in feb. Ask in the comments if you want to know any specifics.
Starts from the most recent photo through to the day i got out on it for the first time, and yes I've had her from 0 miles on the clock.
Unsure how many km the previous tire, a Bridgestone Battlax A41, ran but it's already 18,170km so maybe it ran for over 10,000km. The new tire is a Michelin Pilot Street Radial. Still 120/70-17 but the profile is different.
I wasn't able to take videos but I did clean and rebalanced the wheel with the new tire and TPMS. Also cleaned the brake caliper and pads. Then cleaned and greased the axle, spacers, and rubber seals. Lastly, I've properly aligned the forks and brake caliper before torquing everything down.
Hey guys! Posting here because the Vitpilen thread seems kinda dead.
I’m planning to buy a Vitpilen soon, but I’m not sure which model to go for. I’ve heard the 2020–2023 models had some quality control/reliability issues, so I’d love to hear some real owner experiences.
Right now I’m leaning toward the 2018–2019 models because I honestly prefer the looks and sound. On the other hand, the 2020–2023 models have features like the quickshifter and adjustable suspension, which could be nice since I’m a bigger guy (183 cm / 6’0” and around 100 kg / 220 lbs).
A few questions:
Would really appreciate any experiences, opinions, or advice. I’m trying to gather as much info as possible before buying.
Thanks!
Found this on the front tire, a "big, beautiful" nail. Just changed the tires 2 months ago... ¿change or repair?
The tire has not gone flat.
Need to do this now because I have a couple of upcoming out-of-town gigs. Better to be safe.
Gonna bring it to a tire shop early tom and gonna clean the brake pads and caliper too. Amazed at how balanced the front wheel is even if I didn't have a proper balancer when I did it. Hopefully, I'll be able to balance it again with the new tire.
Outgoing tire is a Bridgestone Battlax A41 120/70-17. Incoming is Michelin Pilot Street Radial 120/70-17.
The Bridegstone front wore way faster than the rear (not replacing yet, still lots of life and honestly just so good) which is odd but apparently normal for the Battlax A41 as far as I've read from forums. While my rear tire has very little chicken strips, most of the front's sides seem to be not touching the ground at all. So maybe the profile was just so wonky. Looked great in photos though!
I've used the Michelin Pilot Street Radials on my KTM 390 before and I was pretty happy with them. Very affordable but pretty good on most conditions too. But I used the stock size before though so I'm curious how a 120/70 will work on the Vit.
Rode 795.9km in 2 days. She never disappoints. I only wish her tank was bigger lol,
Looking to get my first bike and found a 2020 Svartpilen 401 used with 4833 miles on it. The dealership is asking $3,999 USD for it but out the door cost should be around $5,200 ± $200. From what I can tell that has been done to it is that it has a Competition Werkes slip on as well as a fender eliminator kit. Is this considered a good deal or something I should walk away from.
Have not had a bike in years. So happy to pick this up. Forgot how i missed the fresh spring smells, the feeling of riding trough nature you not get in a car. 400cc is more than enough to keep up and have fun, its just to windy for high speeds without any windprotector. Witch is a good thing. Cruising small twistys is so fun, and its light enough to turn anywhere.
Why left one goes 170kmh and right one barely 160 and pulling poorely from 130 up? I have fuelx and open filter on Svart ’22 and nothing on Vit ’18.
Got my licence and bought my bike last september, only got to drive it for 1 ½ months before it had to go into winter storage. So now I am taking it on a longer trip including some amazing roads here in Norway.
I'm in my 40's feeling the need for freedom. It started with an ebike and quickly escalated to looking at motorcycles... so I went down the youtube rabbit hole, yammie noob and all. I figured in a few years I would maybe get an INT650 or Rebel 500/1100 for my first bike, but I was curious how much these bikes actually cost from dealers vs MSRP... so I started looking around. Big mistake? You decide.
2 weeks later I'm calling a dealership to put down a down payment on a new 2024 Vitpilen 401! I found one with a sticker price of 2600, 3900 OTD. That's a screaming good deal, right? I compared that price everywhere and nothing came close, so when I called the dealership and asked what the hell is wrong with it they just said another dealership closed and they are trying to move bikes out.
Did I make the right choice? Have I been blessed with a good deal? Is this some kind of scam? Am I going to kill myself on this thing?
