DAE play with mercury in school?

My mom, born 1953 in the Midwest US, has a story about when she was in elementary school learning about mercury, and the teacher brought some in for the class to play with. They rolled the mercury around on their hands while they passed it around. Curious if anyone had a similar school experience?

Why do loose hair people always have to phrase it this way?? What they are usually asking is “how old are your dreads?” But I always answer “a few hours over a few nights” because that was how long it took to section the hair. It‘s like trying to ask someone’s age by saying “how long did it take you to live your life?”

Baby my dreads ain’t DONE. If I’m still living they’re still doing. 😂

And just because I had to add “discussion” flair, I think this is a difference in community between dreaded people and loose hair. The dreads definitely have an AGE (and we are so happy once we get through the toddler and angsty teen years aren’t we?) whereas people with loose hair think of changes in hair more as a style that they wore. So your dreads are not the result of a process of patience and growth but rather just the style that you’re wearing at the moment.
