I've been trying to figure this out for years.

I just spent over an hour using Gemini to try to connect my laptop with a family member's printer/scanner over Wi-Fi, with minimal bloated downloads. It kept giving me increasingly complex instructions that didn't work. When I finally switched to chat GPT, it had me up and running in 5 minutes. When I returned to Gemini to try to figure out what had gone wrong, all I got was gaslighting and contradictions.

I'm not a programmer, but I rely on AI for language learning, navigating a foreign bureaucracy, and personal assistant-like tasks on a regular basis. Gemini just seems to be getting worse and worse. Even when It ultimately works, it's after many minutes of frustration and runaround. And it's working less and less.

When I look at subreddits like this one, I'm struck by all the people defending the model, despite my experience showing that it has basically become unusable for practical tasks.

I simply can't wrap my head around how badly it's degraded in terms of basic usability. What am I missing here? How can anyone, outside of maybe specific tasks that I'm unaware of, be satisfied with the direction of this model?
