Farmington walking path clean up crew - volunteers

TLDR: want to volunteer/work together to clean up the unofficial walking path on Farmington before the school year starts? (Española abajo en comentarios)

Hi everyone!

If you’ve driven or walked along Farmington Rd (between 185th & Rosa), you’ve probably noticed how overgrown the north side walking path has gotten. With school starting soon, a lot of kids walk this route to Mountain View Middle School and Aloha High School.

I spoke with Washington County, and since this section is managed by ODOT, they told me official updates/paving won't happen for another 5+ years. Rather than waiting, I’d love to gather a group of neighbors to trim back the branches and sweep/blow off the pine needles and overgrown brush to make it safer for everyone.

Proposed Dates:

  • Saturday, August 22nd (Morning)
  • Sunday, August 23rd (Morning)

What We Have & What We Need:

  • What I can bring: A pickup truck for hauling, a leaf blower, and small clippers.
  • What would be helpful: Anyone with a chainsaw, hedge trimmers, branch loppers, or a wood chipper! Also, if anyone knows local rules regarding debris disposal (or has a legal spot/truck to haul to), that advice would be awesome.

Want to join in?

Drop a comment below with:

  1. If you're free and which day/time works best for you (8/22 or 8/23).
  2. What tools/supplies you can bring or ideas you have on how to tackle this efficiently!

Even if you can only spare an hour or two, any help is appreciated. Let’s make this path safer for our local students!

suggestion request - second hand fridge with cockroaches

Asking for suggestions from Pest Control Professionals or those with experience with cockroaches:

TLDR: second hand fridge from FB marketplace came with (at least) 2 adult cockroaches. What should I do?

Longer version: We’re remodeling our kitchen and our main fridge died somehow after moving it in preparation for our demolition. We already have a new one ordered/purchased for after the remodel. We didn’t want to buy an all new regular sized fridge so I sought out a smaller one to hold us over for a month. Found one. It was $70 after negotiating the price, seemed clean, it worked, brought it home, cleaned it some more, and plugged it in at 5pm. The next morning at 7am we found an adult German cockroach (identified with Google image search with a picture of the one found) on our kitchen counter, about 6 feet from where the fridge was plugged in. We killed the cockroach, took the fridge outside to our back porch realizing it likely came from that bc we’d never seen one in our house in the 6 years living here. Vacuumed the area where the fridge was, took the vacuum outside. Fridge has been outside 7am-6pm and at 6pm the dining room where the fridge was, I see a second adult cockroach. Killed it.

At 7pm placed now NEW smaller fridge into garage with sticky traps behind/under the motor. Placed sticky traps with some poison behind a piece of furniture where the used fridge was, placed another near the exit door by where the used fridge is out now. Placed two sticky traps under the old fridge motor area, placed some dots of poison on the metal near the motor area of the used one out back.

Anything else I should do? Anything else to know? How often do they reproduce? Other than vacuum and sweeping, what other cleaning should I do?

Edit: poison used in Combat. Should I also get vendetta? Call pest control tomorrow?

I’m grossed out. The room the fridge was in is now separated from the rest of the house by plastic sheeting bc of the remodel work.

I also messaged the seller saying the Fridge had roaches… she said “I know, I had an exterminator treat it” I was like WTF? You should’ve told me… I asked for a refund to return it or half refund and she asked for time because her grandpa died… UGGGHHH!
