Good game sense, weak mechanics looking for settings & training advice
Hey guys, I'm looking to hear your thoughts on what I can do to get better. I've been playing for a long time, long enough that it's the only video game I play, though only about 10-14 hours a week. I've become pretty fast, and while I'm not too mechanical, I can do the basics: air dribbles, ground plays, double resets, etc. What I struggle with are mustys, triple resets, pop resets.
Overall my mechanics are good enough to play keepaway in most Champ lobbies, and my game sense is decent too. I've quit the game a lot at this point and have slowly been trying to improve mechanically. I think if I grinded out C3 I could hit GC1 and level out there, but honestly I don't really want that, I'd rather just get good mechanically, since I think that would take me further and I'd enjoy it more.
That said, I'm struggling to figure some things out, especially settings. I know switching settings isn't usually a good idea, but I've been a Squishy fan for a long time and play similarly (obviously not as good, but the style is there). I've noticed that the slower setting (1.3/1.3, 0.05) makes a lot of mechanics harder, especially rapids and pop resets, it feels like I'm forced to play slower. I'm looking for something a little faster, and I've had some luck with 0.07 and a higher sensitivity. It's like my brain thinks faster than the setting allows, and with a higher setting I can do a lot more and start new movements before finishing the previous one. Also, I have a gamesir controller if anyone has any advice on that.
Has anyone been in a similar spot, or have an idea of where I should go from here? I'm looking to try settings that prioritize faster gameplay and mechanics, since my strengths are game sense and simpler mechanics. Also, if anyone has a list of mechanics I should train from first to last, that'd be a huge help.
