Visa approval 5 days 🎉 Standard processing!!

Got my visa update approval from UKVI in just 5 days on standard processing! 🎉 After some initial back-and-forth about switching my SOC code. Big relief to have 3 more years secured and fully approved ahead of time. Next stop: 2028 ILR!

Timeline Summary
2023: Switched from graduate to initial main work visa, starting the 5-year clock toward Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). 3 year initial sponsorship.

Early August 2026: Raised discrepancy between original CoS end date (28 August) and visa expiry date (11 September), confirming the need for an in-country extension/update.

Mid August 2026: HR verified with the Home Office Sponsor Helpline that updating the SOC was fully valid for an extension/update application.

Sunday, 23 August 2026: Submitted the online "Update" visa application via GOV.UK using standard service, as opposed to "extend".

Saturday, 29 August 2026: Received official approval email from Home Office Atlas in under 6 days, securing status through September 2029.

2028: Projected eligibility to submit 5-year ILR application.
As long as Shabana behaves herself.

Skilled Worker extension – SOC code changed by employer

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on my Skilled Worker extension.

I’ve been with the same NHS employer since 2023. Got moved to another post on a higher band in 2024. When I took my current role, I was told my sponsorship would remain under SOC 6131.

My new CoS has now been issued under SOC 2259 instead. I queried this with HR, and they themselves asked internally whether I should proceed using 2259, but I never received an answer.

I’ve followed up asking whether I should:
apply using 2259;
expect the CoS to be amended back to 6131; or
whether 2259 has been cleared/confirmed as appropriate.

My visa expires in early September, so I don’t want to submit under the wrong code.
Would you wait for HR to clarify before applying, or should I just proceed using the new CoS under 2259?

Advice on Parfums de Marly

Hi guys. Someone wants to gift me a PDM of my choice and I'm excited about this but want to make sure I make the right decision. For context, the scent profile I've found myself really enjoying is:

  1. Imagination by Louis Vuitton
  2. Dior Sauvage EDT
  3. Everything else

With this taste, which PDM would you reckon I would enjoy? I will appreciate comments from people who have experience with this brand

Finally!

Finally thinned my collection down to only my absolute favourites, and one can definitely say I have a very particular scent affiliation 😆
