New DF64V Gen 3 stalls and shuts down under load even at 1800 RPM — possible motor controller issue?

Hi everyone,

I'm running into a severe issue with a brand new DF64V Gen 3. I suspect a motor controller or PCB failure, as I've seen reports of burnt control boards on these recent 2026 revisions, but I'd like to get the community's thoughts.

The Issue: The grinder initially shut down under minimal load, and now it shuts down even without beans. Here is the exact sequence:

  • Initial Test: 1800 RPM, grind setting 30. It ground only ~5 g out of a 10g dose (test) before shutting off and becoming completely unresponsive.
  • Reboot: After unplugging from the wall to reset it and restarting, it managed to grind another 1.5 g and then shut off again.
  • Further Testing: I increased the grind setting to 60+ and managed to finish grinding the remaining beans.
  • The Final Failure: Afterwards, I adjusted the dial back down to around 30 (feeling noticeable resistance/effort when turning it finer, likely due to retained coffee). When I turned the grinder on completely empty (no beans), it immediately shut down again in the exact same way. (Note: I did not get an Error 06, it just completely shuts off).

Machine Details:

  • Model: DF64V Gen 3
  • Specs: 220–240 V / 400 W

I recorded a video showing the exact behavior.

Questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone else with a Gen 3 experienced these exact overload protection shut-offs or a burnt control board?
  2. Is there any known DIY fix for this (e.g., swapping a specific component like a thermistor on the PCB), or is a full board replacement the only way?
  3. If you've been through a warranty claim for this exact issue, please share your experience. How did the dealer handle it, and did the replacement board resolve the problem permanently?

Thanks in advance for any help!
