Running while pregnant - tips?
I'm a fair weather runner - I ran varsity XC in high school, but after two knee surgeries, it's more of a hobby than my main form of exercise. I usually run 1-2x a week from spring-fall and take a break in the winter, supplementing with the stationary bike, Pilates, and weight training.
I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and craving runs, so I finally tried out a belly band and went for an easy mile this morning. I was surprised to feel great the whole time, besides the constant urge to pee. Afterwards, I experienced some mild cramping.
I had planned to run a mile, walk, then run another mile, but I got nervous and just walked home after one.
Is some light cramping normal for you runners out there? And do you have any advice on mitigating the bladder pressure? Finally, any general advice for easing back in/attempting some light training while pregnant?
Thank you!!
