Bitter despawning time

I try to decide if it's wise to have a egg buffer in space (2.1)

I build a simple station with nothing but the hub, and let the game play in the background for half an hour to have the eggs hatch.

The bitters are not causing damage, but do they despawn at any point, or do I risk having a permanent UPS drain instead ?

Vertically scalable science

That's my early to Aquilo science production, in its low tech level.

I have an earlier base for red/green only that ran in the background while a build that thing.

The 2 tiles rules is enforced everywhere to allow for beacon upgrades. No belt weaving is allowed, and with a small exception, red underground separation (and even that at a minimum).

Part of the complicated setup at the start of red/green/black is basic lane balancing, since most of the science assemblers work on single lane ingredients.

Military and purple science are the most complicated to do withing those limitations, with their high number of ingredients, with at least one requiring a full belt to match ratios (coal and rail)

The red/green/black science double as a mini mall, producing red belts, all types of inserters, roboports, tier 2 assemblers, power poles and even a bit of space plateform as soon as the science is there. It's slow and low priority, but is enough for my modest needs.

The extra uranium, calcite and sulfur lane for military science is there to produce green ammo and cliff explosives in the backgound, suited for small scale personal usage, but without having to think to setup a mall at all. I the calcite lane when building the landing pad, and when I'm back from Vulcanus, I have all the cliff removal I need.

The blue, purple and yellow science is barebone, because :

  1. most of yellow science is mutualised with rockets and blue science : engine to electric engines to bots, sulfur to sulfuric acid to batteries to bots, red circuit to blue circuits and LDS and blue circuit to rockets. Better scaling those independently anyway, plus the bus offer a great buffer.

  2. rail and productivity production get a massive rebuild after Fulgora and Vulcanus, and expend massively in size as a result.

The early version is a low 30 SPM, but there is room for beacons and other niceties, allowing to go in the several hundreds without major reconstruction. I rarely wait on science anyway in the early game, to busy to chase biters and building things.

The only big mid game modification is for the green science part, where I left room for a belt foundry, but that generally go with dismantling the red belt assembler once imported Vulcanian green belts are a thing. And that is part of the Vulcanian makeover of the whole base anyway.

Peak performance is about 3k SPM with stack green belts, tier 3 modules and biolabs.
