Maths books to read for fun x

Hello people, it’s happening. The nerdiness in me won and I chose Maths over Medicine 🤓🫣😆 I’m already a qualified teacher so will use Maths OU to change the subjects I’ll teach once I’m done.

Now while prepping for Medicine, I did physics, chemistry and biology a levels- there were so many amazing books which were general introductions to these subjects such as Timberlake’s Intro to Chemistry, but I cannot find anything like this about Maths.

Can anyone recommend some books which are more of pleasure reads with some historical aspects or daily applications of mathematics? Something that would complement exercises and more linear approach of MST124/125?

I’ll be starting with MST124 which I’m planing to do together with MST125. I recently sat gcse higher so not sure how to best prepare myself while having a fun summer xxx

All recommendations welcome and may circle theorems be with you xxx 🤓

I’ve been using these…

Edit: I’m an independent, mature candidate.
No, I cannot ask a teacher. No I didn’t sleep in an assembly. No, the education centre either didn’t say anything, or I didn’t hear as I was at the back in a hall I hadn’t been in before. Will email the provider and see if there’s anything they can do.

So…

I’ve been using these for my Maths and English exams (AQA) this year and only found out that apparently we’re not to use erasable pens?? It was news to me as I used to work for AQA (I’m a mature candidate) and no one had ever ever mentioned this not being ok?

Has anyone had any issues with their work being marked after using these? The invigilator who warned me against it confiscated someone’s tissue leaving them to blow their nose into their sleeve for like 80 minutes so I assumed he had no life and was just a sad sad man. But now, not so sure? 😝
