iOS 27 latest beta -dev 6/public 4

I saw on the iPhone sub there seemed to be some hoorahs on the latest beta (dev 6, public 4) and fixes for some issues. For anyone who has updated, how is HomeKit doing?

Had a power outage, half my automations disappeared in HomeKit’s automation list

This morning we had a power outage. When the power was restored, there were a couple sensors that weren’t controlling lights so I went into HomeKit and saw that half of my automations are no longer in the list, including the multiple ones for those sensors.

I then opened the Controller app and the automations are still there as they should be. They are also still showing in the Eve app, intact. But they are not working, so it seems unless they are in the home app, they won’t? (Even though those apps are mirroring the Home app).

How can I get them back into the Home app’s automation list? Thanks.

I’m on 26.6.

Aqara G410 not picking up events, especially in Aqara

For the last few days, I’ve been having trouble with my G410. It spent last night making 17 recording of bugs flying by throughout the night, but only in HomeKit. Today there was human activity outside, and both Aqara and HomeKit recorded nothing.

Aqara hasn’t caught one event or recording for an entire week. The SD card shows no activity. The Aqara cloud, nothing…it just asks me to subscribe. Do you have to subscribe now?

Many times it’s been that HomeKit missed an event but Aqara picked it up. Now Aqara is recording nothing and I don’t know why. BTW it is wired, no battery operation. Transformer is correct. The camera used to work well for the last two years.

I have Proximity Trigger turned off as suggested, distance 3m, 15 sec. I rebooted the chimebox. All the other Aqara cameras are doing their job. The G410 used to also, so I don’t know what changed. Everything on the network is good and the G410 has 5 bars.

Just now, activity in the driveway so I changed the settings to 5m and turned on Proximity. Still nothing, it’s baffling.

Thank you!

Adding M2 in addition to our M3?

I had replaced our M2 hub with the M3 a while back, which is the current hub for a total of 34 devices. I do have several cameras that also are hubs, but use them only as cameras. I also have an E1 hub but removed it for now.

I am wondering if it would be beneficial in re-installing the M2 as an additional Ethernet hub, and/or to take on some of the devices currently on the M3. There are 3 floors.

Thoughts? Thanks.

T1 Zigbee 3.0 devices along with Zigbee 1.2 versions—is there disadvantage by not all being 3.0?

I have some older Aqara original vibration, door, and temperature sensor devices that all use Zigbee 1.2 and a couple T1 sensors that use Zigbee 3.0. (I have the M3 hub). I also recently added a couple of the new FP300 and the P100. I was wondering if having the 1.2’s on the same network cause the 3.0 ones to resort to using 1.2, or do they both retain and operate at their Zigbee respective versions?

It’s not quite the same thing maybe, but in the computing world that does happen where one thing can only be as fast as the slowest device, so I wondered if that applies here.

I am not using Matter or Thread anywhere. My 1.2’s seem fast enough but am I missing out on anything by not using the T1? In other words, is there any benefit to using the same version throughout the home?

Thanks.

P100 calibration issue, setup steps are stuck in a loop and the device is not detecting anything

Hi, I just bought the P100 and it paired with the M3 as it should, Zigbee mode, object mode. It’s listed in the app correctly. The problem is that when I go through the P100 calibration process (pressing the button 3 times), the M3 hub speaks something fast that I can’t make out; sounds like “nor-MAL’-lee to confirm” ?? If I knew what it said I might have a better idea of what is wrong.

For calibration, I’ve had to re-try this many times. Sometimes the blue light blinks, sometimes it doesn’t. The bottom line is that no motion is ever detected on this thing. It seems like it’s really not set up because when the calibration actually did blink and I confirmed it, the setup steps in the app started all over again from the beginning where I had to again choose object mode, calibrate etc. I don’t think it ever finalized.

So the setup is stuck in an endless loop in the app, and the device still doesn’t register motion. My other devices have been very straightforward so I don’t know what is going on with this one. What else do I need to do? Thank you!

Which presence sensor might be better at sensing human presence through glass?

Which of the presence sensors might be better at detecting human presence through a glass door? Has anyone had success with that? I want it to trigger an automation. A [person detecting] camera will not work here.

Does the FP2 etc. maybe have different sensing capabilities than say the FP300? I realize there will be a new one coming soon, but it’s not here yet. Thanks.

Why FP300 still detects presence when there no longer is any

I bought an FP300 and am trying to understand its presence detection. Sometimes it works perfectly, detects presence, then doesn’t detect presence when we leave the room. Fine. However, sometimes it continues to detect presence long after we have left, which is incorrect.

So, I changed it from PIR/mmWave combo to just mmWave, thinking maybe it was picking up some random fluttering motion from something, but it still varies.

Example: it detected me in the room, then I left. 20 seconds later it detected no presence. Perfect. But then I re-entered the room, it detected me. I left, but it still detected me for 20 minutes afterward.

Earlier today it detected presence for over an hour when we were nowhere near it. I’d like to understand the settings or what could make it behave this way. Thanks!

Can’t delete automations that are on the camera page.

When I went in to edit settings on a camera, I noticed that under automations there were 2 automations that I had made as a temporary test, and not enabled. I want to delete them. However when I try, they just re-populated and duplicate themselves. Now there are 5 of them. They are only in that camera’s settings under automations, and do not show up under the main Automations tab. I can’t get rid of these things.

Edit: my mistake, wasn’t thinking. Carry on.

Two Presence sensors (FP300 or other) for bath and outside

I was thinking of replacing my regular motion detector with the FP300 and had a couple questions.

Bathroom use: if you’ve tried it in many different areas, what have you noticed is a good location that will sense presence in the shower (and the rest of the room) but not people walking past the open bathroom door when no one is inside, as I don’t want the bathroom lights to go on every time someone walks by. I don’t know how far it would sense since I want it to stay within the bathroom, so I would think it can’t face the person as they enter.

How much does it swivel or tilt? I want another device to detect presence outside, but it would have to be facing the outdoors through a window, so would have to figure out how best to position it. OR would one of the other human sensors be better for this?

Thanks!

FP300 detecting through a window?

Can the FP300 or any of the presence detectors be placed on a window sill to detect humans outside through a window glass (detecting human presence in the yard instead of in the room)?

Or, would the sensor still pick up activity both outside and in the room? Is there a way to position it or ‘tell’ it where its ’field of view’ is supposed to be? Thanks!

Would like more insight regarding strings and low tension, and recommends

I think I need a little primer on strings. I've been researching and have a few questions still unsettled. I hadn't really delved into them much before. I was thinking of putting a different set on a 30" short scale that came with light strings (40-95).

If you put strings on a bass higher than that (let's say 100, or up to 105), doesn't that increase the tension more?

Does it make things more unbalanced (like need a new setup)?

Flats are supposedly higher in tension, but is that true for even the lowest gauge?

Isn't there a reason why the bass either came with or was set up with a specific gauge? And if so, how important is it to stick to that?

All that said, what low tension (but not flabby) have you liked a lot on a short scale, in all your trials and errors? (not body through).

At first I was thinking flats but then it seems hard to find ones that get uniform good reviews that are low tension especially if I'm sticking with that gauge. I would like smoother light on the fingers if that exists for short scale, nice clarity, and now I'm not so concerned with if they are flats or not.

Thanks.
