Looking for input on Grand Lake

Planning a two night trip from the Achray access point. We also have the option of making it a 3 night, but with the first night arriving quite late at the jump off site. Mix of experienced and novice campers. Planning to see the Barron Canyon Trail on the way in or out. I haven’t been able to find much information or campsite reports on Grand Lake. We are potentially going with a bigger group and I am concerned about having enough tent space. Would also like to fish but I heard it’s not great except for Carajou bay, so we may make that a day trip to also see the falls.

Aside, are there any other lakes/access points in this area that are worthwhile to consider with minimal or no portages? Our main goal is to see Barron Canyon, and the campsite is just to enjoy the lakes, fish, and explore a bit, nothing crazy as we will be coming from Toronto. Is the trail worth doing? Or should we just book a more accessible point with nicer/bigger campsite and fishing. Looking to go early October so there is some concern of wind on Grand Lake. Would prefer more private sites so looking at the northwest ones currently.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for any insight on Lake Travers

Planning to do a 2-night trip in mid August with 9 people at Lake Travers. It looks great from the research I’ve done—good fishing, nice campsites, and no portage as there are unexperienced paddlers. I was hoping to snag a campsite a bit further away and closer to the island. We are arriving Friday so not sure if that will be possible. I have read some concerns of noise or motorboats, but was hoping that being further away from the access point would be better.

-is there parking close to the access point? Can you drive up to the access point to unload gear? I’ve read mixed things about road access

-would it be worth it seeing the Barron Canyon after the trip? Will be going back the Toronto on the Sunday. Also happy to just paddle up the Petawawa river if that’s an option

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also any suggestions for other campsites would be amazing!

Comparing Aus schools

Hi! I’m a Canadian who got accepted to Flinders Adelaide and I need to put down a deposit in the next couple of days. My top choice was Griffith Gold Coast, but they do not release offers until September. I am most likely accepting my Flinder’s offer because I don’t want to gamble with the odds of not going to school at all. ChatGPT also said my odds of getting an interview and acceptance were borderline, not sure if that’s true. I also interviewed at UWA and Notre Dame Sydney, but those offers don’t come out until June. Any insight really appreciated on matching back to Canada, the city environment, literally anything. Thanks in advance!

Lifestyle in Adelaide vs Gold Coast

Hi! I am a Canadian planning to come to Aus next year for school. I have received an offer to Flinders Adelaide (Bedford Park) which I am most likely accepted. However, I also have chances at UWA, Notre Dame Sydney, and Griffith GC which are not guaranteed acceptances. I just wanted to compare lifestyle in Adelaide and see if there are any huge red flags to sway my decision. Thanks in advance!!!
