Do we think Hef refused to use protection as yet another control mechanism?
Throughout his many years of sleeping with thousands and thousands of young women, frequently in group sex with strangers scenarios, Hef notoriously refused to use protection.
Even today, there are a number of STIs that stick with a person for life, once contracted e.g. herpes, HPV, and HIV. HIV is no longer a certain death sentence, but in the early 2000s, it was still a very deadly disease.
Holly has stated many times that one of the reasons she felt trapped at the mansion was that she thought no man would ever want her again after being with Hef.
Isabella has mentioned that there are some women who caught diseases they'd have forever during their time at the mansion.
It occurred to me that Hef may have intentionally refused protection as yet another mechanism for trapping women at the mansion. Hef probably didn't care that much about catching diseases, himself. He was nearing the end of his life, and it seems nothing would dissuade hordes of desperate young women from wanting to bed him -- not the prospect of group sex, nor the risk of unprotected sex with strangers, nor the dog sh*t and piss that covered the carpets in his bedroom mausoleum. But perhaps he figured that if any of "his girls" were to catch an uncurable disease, they might feel their value outside the mansion diminished, and be more inclined to stay.
Thoughts?
P.S. F that horrible, grotesque, vampire. What a despicable excuse for a man.
