Val Perez Explains Her Ejection

On the Dropping Diamonds podcast with AJ Andrews, Val Perez explained why she was ejected:

  • Umpire on the field made the call that the runner who went from 3B to home had scored, but Perez had to go back from 3B to 2B

  • Perez pointed out that wasn't the rule - either both runners advance, or both go back

  • Perez says she respectfully told the umpire that wasn't the rule, and the umpire told her that if she said that again, she would be tossed. Perez is unclear on this point, but I guess she said it again?

  • Perez pointed out that after she was ejected, the umpire changed his call from a split (which she says is not the rule) to having both runners go back

  • Perez is trying to appeal the decision, trying to get the ejection changed to a warning because she doesn't believe she should have to miss the opening game of next season

So at least we know what happened now, and it sounds like the interaction is as mild as it looked.

My sister has asked for help finding a laptop that can run all Microsoft software, can handle The Sims 4 with expansion packs and custom content, and is possibly a touch screen for digital design work in Canva or similar programs. Please help :)

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$1,700 Canadian, but I think if she could get it for less than that she would be happier.

Are you open to refurbs/used?

No

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

She has requested it be a touchscreen for doing digital design work in Canva.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not very.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

N/A

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Touchscreen for digital design in Canva and The Sims 4 with expansion packs and custom content.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

The Sims 4 with expansions and custom content, maybe ideally not only in laptop mode?

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Touchscreen.

Hello!

I will be travelling 10+ hours on a budget airline (no in-flight screens) in the next year and don't want to bring my Pixelbook or laptop, so I was considering picking up a tablet for streaming shows from Netflix or something while on the plane. The last time I had a tablet, it was the Nexus 7 and I loved it.

The primary purpose for this tablet would be for streaming shows and music while travelling, but the ability to edit Google Docs and Sheets would be handy. It could also replace my Kobo on this trip so I'm carrying less. I'm intrigued by the idea of something compatible with a pen for handwritten notes and doodles, but probably not a dealbreaker.

Ideally my budget is under $300 Canadian, but willing to be a bit flexible if needed. I may also qualify for a small Lenovo discount through my job, but not sure. Thank you!
