Older woman collapsed at Clark and Rascher today

I picked up an 82-year-old woman off the sidewalk outside of Colectivo today. She had collapsed from the heat and wasn’t in great condition, spoke Spanish and English. Another woman helped and got her water and we called 911, but she didn’t want an ambulance. She kept insisting she was okay and lived close by but could barely hold herself up. We ultimately had to leave her there, but if this sounds like your neighbor please check on her. This heat is brutal on our older neighbors especially.

[WTS] UDO Super 6 ST49 - $2750 - shipped to cont. US [L] Chicago

Selling my UDO Super 6 ST49 (keyboard upgraded to fatar semi-weighted with polyphonic after touch) with decksaver. $2800 shipping included to continental US, or local pickup for a bit cheaper in Chicago.

Excellent condition, virtually spotless except for a couple small scratches on the back where the decksaver sits. I also replaced the volume knob with a red soft touch knob, which is much easier to see / tweak in low light when performing. Comes with all the original stuff that was in the box (including cloth bag, manual, power cord, stickers, cloth). I did the super touch 49 keyboard upgrade myself, and I think it feels realllly nice to play. I have the spare keyboard if you want me to switch it back and knock $200 off the price, or include it for an extra $200.

I also made a heavy duty custom road case for it. It’s the “base platform with hinged lid” style. I can include this for like $175 extra (will send more pics if interested).

The Super 6 sounds awesome and is a joy to play. I hope to buy one again someday, but for now I need to sell it. Sorry, not looking to trade. Thank you!

Edit: it has lived in a smoke-free, pet-free home under the decksaver.

Vongon Replay or Microkorg S?

My main synth is a UDO Super 6, but I’d like a small, portable alternative that I can use to more easily gig with or make sounds on the porch / couch. Looking for screenless, at least 4 note polyphony, ability to save presets.

Microkorg S feels like a great solution, and I don’t think I would mind the UI once I got used to it. Battery powered, stereo, headphone jack are all pros here. I don’t mind mini keys.

Vongon Replay (I know, it’s controversial) looks appealing too. Enough controls on the front to make me happy, 6 note polyphony, I enjoy the aesthetic and the sounds that I’ve heard. I’d have to build a little dock with a power supply and a couple pedals, but it’s so small to start with I think it would end up being about the same footprint as the Microkorg S.

Anyone played both of these? Build quality is important to me as well, so I’m going to try each of these in person if I can.

Used five tools on my Arc today to demolish a couch

Today, I helped my friend who is moving soon. We had to get an old couch out that was left by the previous tenant and it wouldn’t fit through the door.

Used five Arc tools (and a small crow bar):

  1. knife to cut the fabric
  2. bit drive to take out screws
  3. pry bar to remove staples
  4. saw to rip apart some twisted fabric and wood
  5. striking surface to bash some nails down (overdue for a tetanus shot)

Anyway, we did it and my Arc Obsidian was really handy. (The blade looks chipped in the photo but it’s just debris).

Semi-portable setup

I built this because I wanted a more compact rig that I could bring on public transit (or at least fewer trips from the car). small footprint, huge sound! waiting for a couple cables to show up in the mail and then I’ll post a video of it in action.

I still need to make a lid/case for it, but it’s a nice little setup for my saturated, drone-y needs.

Casio SK-1 > Rat (or BD-2, haven’t decided yet) > SOMA Cosmos > Vongon Ultrasheer > Strymon Iridium

Lamb biryani from Kabobi in Chicago! It comes with raw red onion and crispy fried onions, and I got a side of grilled white onion to go with it. Triple onion dinner! It’s awesome.
