My sister is the most adorable idiot

Ok, so my genuinely nice sister, today, is like “hey I have fresh baked banana bread, can I use your employee discount?”

Me: sure! Anytime love having the bread but would have yes for just your company!

She comes in when we are super busy so it doesn’t immediately clock that she bought the completely wrong antifreeze. She purchased coolant for boats and rvs, not her 2011 Subaru. But eventually I’m like “…huh…that was weird???”

So I call her to double check, just in case dad bought a boat or something…nope.

Kiddos first response is “oh gawd what did I do to my car?!?!???”

Great thing is she found a YouTube video and figured out how to drain her whole radiator system. All by herself. Bad news is that she thinks I’m the expert on car stuff and have anything to offer besides common sense and tutorials that she already knows how to find…

Customers can legitimately be funny or cute sometimes

So yesterday we were slow in the hub and I used to be in diy so my asm asked me to come help with the line. Ok, no problem.

I get up there and my very first customer is this adorable Hispanic young woman with her dad, who she’s translating for. He’s telling her what to get, but very clearly in a teaching way, so that she can do this for her self in the future.

She ends up asking her own questions about oils and filters just being very happy and curious about everything even though she’s clearly not into cars, more interested in being practical and self sufficient.

She was just getting supplies for an oil change so I get to the part where I ask if she wants any of the air filters, dad wants the engine air filter but not the cabin air filter and my upsale game is in the gutter so I just flat out tell her that every six months I drive down to my parents house and use my dads air hose to blow out my cabin air filter and it’s lasted me six years.

She translates this to her dad, who straight up belly laughs and says something about how that’s exactly what he was already going to have her do.

I also, later, had a father and son come in for I don’t remember what but the whole conversation was about the dad fixing up his very first car and having his kid help him (adorable) and then he had the kid sign for his credit card and we had a whole separate conversation about kids needing to know how to forge signatures for permission slips and whatnot.

Just, ultimately, really cute and wholesome. There were other customers who were fine, but those two interactions stood out. Surprisingly, there were zero assholes or Karen’s. It was a good day.
