What things have you cut out of your life or avoided because they tend to cause obsessive spirals?

For example in my case, I had to uninstall tiktok last year for a lot of reasons but one of the worst ones was all the ‘stop scrolling for [X amount of time] to watch and share this video unless you’re an evil heartless person who only cares about themselves’ stuff I would see. And of course, if you stop to watch or interact the algorithm keeps feeding you more and more content exactly like that, so even just using the app started to make me feel so ridiculously anxious that the dopamine cycle wasn’t even worth it anymore.

I ended up just migrating the doomscrolling to IG reels bc zero willpower here, but thankfully I haven’t ever really seen that kind of thing on there.

Coming from the ERP mindset, I know I probably could’ve just continued to use the app and scrolled past that sort of stuff without allowing it to make me question my character, but my tiktok use and screentime overall was getting pretty ridiculous (like actually too embarrassing to say what my average daily usage was at its peak) so I know deleting it was for the best anyway as things have improved a lot since then.
