is it bad etiquette to "push away" push/cut kicks with your hands?

many people who I spar with love to counter me with push/cut kicks. I don't blame them - I'm slow, I'm open and i've got terrible reflexes, lol.

i realized that with my arms and hands, I can push these kicks away to the side, protecting myself from the kick and leaving them open.

Is this a legal way to block? is it good etiquette?

What exercise routine will build a bulletproof, superhero-strength lower back?

Hello friends!

the lower back is the weakest link on my posterior chain, and it's clear i'm not doing something right despite focusing on this body part for months.

what is an appropriate routine to build a super strong lower back?

i'm looking for exercises, reps and frequency.

thanks!

Before wireless mics, how did large-scale theatre and musical productions manage acoustics and amplify sound?

Went to a broadway musical for the first time a few weeks ago and noticed that the music was recorded and the performers were wearing wireless mics. While recorded music has existed for a while, my guess is that wireless mics weren't really mainstream in the 70s, 80s and 90s (maybe even early 00s).

How were the performers voices captured back then? Were there large boom mics above the stage? were the venues limited to those places that were 'architected' for optimal acoustics?

My bread flour has 13.3% protein; my all purpose flour has 13.3% protein - am i wasting money (and space) with two types of flours?

So i was looking at the nutrition labels of two bags of flour that I have:

  • the Five Roses AP flour has 4 g of protein in a 30 g serving
  • the Robin Hood Bread flour had 4 g of protein in a 30 g serving

so 13.3% protein in each right? is the labelling wrong in the AP flour? could it really have 13.3% protein? I know that malt is added to BF to help with browning - but is there anything else in BF that makes it different from AP flour?

why would someone accept some, but not all cookies when visiting a website?

many websites now prompt you to fully or partially accept cookies or reject them all. is there a case where someone would want to accept specific ones while rejecting others?

Resting steak - alternatives to aluminum foil?

Hi all! I've read that after cooking a steak, you need to let it rest for 20 min or so, to allow the meat to relax - apparently it comes out juicier. I've also read that when resting, to cover it with aluminum foil.

Does it have to be aluminum foil? Could I cover it with a large plate or bowl?

thanks!

shredded paper and grass clippings enough for my composting bin?

Hi all! I live in a great city that actually picks up compost (in addition to recycling and garbage), so I don't really need to use my backyard compost bin anymore.

That being said, I still have a ton of shredded paper. if i were to add grass clippings to it, would that be an adequate combination to create compost? if so, should i keep the mixture wet?

thanks!
