Peter Pan & Tinkerbell
I got extremely lucky today and got a Peter Pan & Tinkerbell (yeah, really fitting for my username lol). I'm leaning towards keeping the card because it's special to me and I'm sentimental like that, it's gorgeous, and I want to build a deck around it, but (1) I would feel a little bit like a jerk using it in matches, envious eye and all, and (2) it would suck if I changed my mind later and it went down in value or Lorcana had a huge drop-off.
On the one hand, Disney is a super popular, worldwide phenomenon; accessible IP without overcomplicated lore or storytelling; the game is fun; the deckbuilding is fun; and the art is gorgeous, especially the rarer cards. You would think with how big of a phenomenon Disney adults are, the collectibles would hold value. On the other hand, with the recent influx of scalpers, I worry that it will drive the better parts of the community away or tank interest in the game. I do see a lot of dissatisfaction and frustration on r/Lorcana that I sympathize with. I just started playing a few weeks ago and was having a hard time getting my hands on any legal cards until the prerelease event I went to today. I could see that deterring a lot of newer players trying to get into the game.
And of course, even if I do wait 20+ years and the card becomes super valuable, I know getting it graded will be a pain in the neck.
