WoW Housing Needs a “Visit Random Homes” Feature

I’ve been thinking a lot about WoW Housing lately, and I honestly feel Blizzard is very close to creating something special socially – but one part of the current system feels like a missed opportunity.

Right now, one of the weekly objectives asks players to gather several people inside a single house. The problem is: this mostly works for players with active guilds or friend groups. Solo players, introverts, or casual players often struggle with it.

What if instead the objective was something like:

"Visit 3-5 player homes."

Then Blizzard could add a portal/matchmaking feature that sends players to random public houses across servers.

Players who want visitors could manually enable a "Public / Discoverable House" option, and their homes would enter a shared pool. You enter the portal, get sent to a random home, explore it for a few minutes, maybe interact with objects or discover secrets, and get progress toward the weekly.

I genuinely think this would solve multiple problems at once:

  • give creative builders real visitors,
  • help players gain inspiration and improve their own designs,
  • make neighborhoods feel alive,
  • create memorable player-driven experiences,
  • and reduce dependence on already having a social circle.

One of the coolest parts of Housing is discovering how other players use lighting, atmosphere, hidden passages, unusual decoration tricks, and environmental storytelling. Right now many incredible homes remain completely unseen unless you already know the owner personally.

A system that encourages players to organically visit random homes could turn Housing from "private decoration instances" into an actual social ecosystem.
