Do anyone know how wide the wheel hub is? I mean distance between the bearing seats?
Looks like Bont uses the same aluminum core on all royal assassin wheels, but I'm thinking abt buying the outdoor ones (65x44mm).
From the pictures it looks like 8mm - but if it's 10mm + washer, Im afraid to run out of axle.
Just a tip: Bont hybrid insoles are super grippy and be purchased seperately. They fit perfect in my AR2's and completely eliminated slipping around inside (my boots are not too big in any way). Almost like skating barefoot.
For sizing, you'd have to check out bont hybrid size chart, but they're easy to cut to fit. Make sure they're not the Prostar/quadstar insole.
I wonder if pilot falcon might be too lively/responsive for trail skating and high speeds?
I've had a bunch of different plates, and I don't necessarily feel that a 10° kingpin angle is more stable than 20° at high speeds. So 16° could still be fine.
The thing is, I like my front axles a little more forward than standard, and pilot falcon looks like it has a shorter nose, so the toe stop won't stick out too much.
The boot is AR2 size 7 and pilot falcon size would be 6.5.
I'm also considering reactor pro plates (size 7) but they're more expensive, have a slightly shorter wheelbase, and I don't really want to bother with adjustable pivots for trail.
Copenhagen is surrounded by "super bike paths" (mostly for commuters) and they're amazing for trail skating. Many of them are wide and super smooth, often bypassing intersections so you can go for miles without stopping. So bring your skates if you're visiting 🤩
I got brand new Solaris skates last month, I sized down from the chart, and they fit perfectly and the setup is so fricking nice.
I was so excited I skated in them for hours every day (intense trail skating) and probably pulled the laces too tight in the v-lock strap (and ignoring the pain because I had so much fun). This has caused an irritated (not damaged) superficial sensory nerve right on the inside left ankle bone (malleol), and now skating in any boot hurts like hell.
Has anyone tried this? How did you manage and how long did it take to calm down?
If you want to convert your Brunny dragon park setup to a decent trail setup, it's totally doable:
- Remove block.
- Tape the block holes to prevent dirt.
- Put trail wheels on inside out* (otherwise the wheels will stick out way too much)
Maybe also lower the toe stops and loosen the trucks a bit (I use 88A Independent cushions instead of 93A stock cushions - excact same dimensions)
*I use these Chaya 'love is love' 62mm
wheels because they're rounded on both sides. I'm worried that sharp edge will be damaged when it's facing out, but I haven't tested it.
Watch out for the axles sticking out, if you fall and scrape them, they could damaged.
Sorry if this is obvious, just sharing if someone is wondering :-)
I know these are crazy expensive, but I'm curious if anyone have tried these?
Specifically the 65mm / 44mm / 80A
I felt like I needed some more padding for the top of my feet (I have low volume, skinny feet).
It's very easily done with a pair of cheap foam insoles and some flexible glue. I used loctite repair extreme, but I think shoe goo can be used too. The glue has to cure for 24 hours, so be patient :-)
Do anyone know if the outside shell in size XS/S is smaller than size S/M?
I am currently using S1 mini lifer, but I'd like a visor, and the deep cover S/M makes my small head look like a mushroom 😛
Ok I'm NOT buying these, but I'm intrigued - I've never seen plates like these in the wild. They're STD frames, carbon and platinum and some fibre-aluminium composite. 1200$ I think. 340g assembled.
Do anyone have these and for what kind of skating?
Please help, everyone with PowerDyne reactor pro plates:
Is it easy to switch between wide trucks (eg huck trucks) and standard narrow trucks?
I want to be able to switch between park and trail setups, without having to change pivot cups, only trucks and cushions and such. I assume it's possible, because the stock trucks are adjustable...
Also: Do anyone know if huck trucks sit further apart (= create a longer wheelbase than with stock trucks)? If anyone have reactor pro + huck trucks, would you mind measuring the wheel base and tell me here? (and plate size)
Thank you ❤️
BONT streetflow: Cannot recommend these enough. I've new been so fast and never jumped so high with so little effort. Wow.
Really happy with both! Let me know if anyone wants a comparison :-)
They are BONT Prostars with Chaya Shari plates + Chaya park trucks+blocks and Antik AR2 with Brunny dragon plates+blocks+trucks + a bont rubber bumper glued on. *The Bonts were basically free since I got them as a replacement for a pair that broke, but were mended by a cobbler. And the Chaya plates are from a pair of dead Chaya jump boots.
Pretty happy so far, I'll se how they hold up at the skatepark tomorrow 🤩
