Heya, I run a server that is prone to raids, we’re talking pornography and gore. We’re an insular community of vegans and for some reason that encourages losers to come in and spam the chats with abhorrent shit.

Currently the only screening we have is a button embed that asks if you agree to the server rules before giving you access to the rest of the server. This filters out maybe 50% of the illiterate who can’t even be bothered to follow through on the instructions to enter, but obviously anyone with minimum determination easily just clicks through and gains access.

Some of my mods have suggested a ticket system, maybe new users are directed to a channel where they have to answer basic questions before a mod manually goes in and approves their membership. I know this can be done natively with permissions but I’m putting feelers out if anyone can recommend a bot with a more streamlined approach, like maybe a third party bot that collates applications and then feeds them to the mods in a back end channel? Honestly I’m totally out of my depth, I don’t really know what options other servers utilise to mitigate raids.

The last time I was on hormonal BC I spent 2 weeks in a psychiatric ward. It was a slow build up since my late teens of being on hormonal BC for several years and having antidepressants thrown at the symptoms until trauma finally compounded everything and I cracked. So for the last 4 years I’ve been just taking my period as it comes because the alternative is risking my life.

Now that I’m approaching my late 20’s and my patience for my period pain is wearing thin, I raised my concerns with my OBGYN and she’s suggested the mirena/kyleena due to it’s much lower hormone output. I suppose my questions are;

- If you have/had an IUD, which did you opt for?
- Did your periods cease? If not, were they at least tolerable?
- If you are similarly susceptible to mental health co morbidities as a result of hormonal BC, did you find symptoms were similar or lesser with an IUD?

The Friends of the Animals Social Club is a brand new Discord server I’ve built in hopes of helping lonely vegans connect & socialise. Far too often I’ve seen folks on this subreddit, and others, express sadness about their isolation from fellow likeminded politically conscious vegans, and it’s something I can say I’ve felt too.

This server was made to provide an online space where we can all hang out and make connections, not just as vegans, but as people. As such, despite this being a vegans only club, topics are not limit to our beliefs and activism. You can literally talk about anything! Games, celebrities, movies. You name it. For so much of our online presence we have had to engage with strangers as activists, but we deserve a place to relax and socialise beyond that scope too.
That isn’t to say that activism and vegan talk isn’t allowed, you are free to stand on your soap box there too :)

A couple of caveats, this space is inclusive, but there is a strict policy against minors, racists, morally uninvested “plant based” individuals, and anyone who subscribes to right wing ideologies. Cheers ^_^

I’ve been inundated with unsympathetic comments and interrogations as to how I got here, why I didn’t do XYZ, why am I opting for termination A instead of termination B. I received so much helpful advice in the first few hours of this post, but the accusatory comments and name calling has made me regret even reaching out for support.

As such I’ve decided to remove the body of this post and turn off notifications before I delete this post in the next few hours.
