Boss wants me to work overnight but won’t pay me all the way through.
Hello everyone, this marks my initial post here, so please bear with me if my uploads are not the best. I am a 20{f} working as a babysitter for a family with three children: a 7-month-old baby, a 4-year-old sister, and a 6-year-old brother. My compensation is only $15, and I realize I should have advocated for myself more; however, that is the reason I am here, as I dislike confrontation and struggle to assert myself. I have accompanied them on one trip to care for the children and have also stayed at their home during another trip when the parents left. Upon her return, she mentioned that she could pay me from 11 AM (the time I arrived) until 8 PM on Friday, but the children did not fall asleep until 9:30 PM. Even then, I was unable to sleep soundly because I kept waking up from 6 AM, concerned about the kids. On Saturday, she compensated me with $17 for the weekend, covering the time from when I woke up until I left. Naturally, I accepted this arrangement because I find it difficult to voice my concerns. Today, she inquired if I could stay overnight on Friday, and I informed her that I would get back to her. I am seeking advice on how to communicate to her that I cannot be cut off before the children go to sleep and that I do not sleep comfortably due to my worries about their well-being. She will be returning in a few hours!
