Cobalt Bridges's 'Stranger's Greetings', a Weapon with a little Frills
When I finished Cobalt's character sheet and lore blurb, I was also finished his weapon of choice: Stranger's Greetings, a dual-staged linear motor assault rifle, combining traditional Dust-powder with rail gun mechanics for power and bullet velocity comparable to anti-tank rifles.
Backstory: The diversity of underground fight clubs in Mistral in general and Argus in particular means that Cobalt has tried nearly every fighting style there is. Fistfights, knives, swords, hammers, axes, maces, he had gone into matches at least once with them. After a lot of lost rounds, he finally settled on firearms, particularly automatic rifles, as his very much preferred form of combat. Less risks for him going up against people whose seem to be trending on melee weapons and Grimm in the future, he reasoned.
The power of normal Dust rifles, even Huntsmen-grade one, left him something to be desired, though. One day, when he was scrolling on the CCTNet, he came across some news article about Atlas's development into rail guns and their power compared to regular weaponry, and an idea struck him. The experimental rail gun shown is too big, and scaling it down would diminish its power considerably, but what if it could be combined with traditional guns to act as a second-stage booster? So, through the help of a friend of a friend who is a weaponsmith specialized in Huntsmen weaponry, he created and named Stranger's Greetings. He decided to not give the weapon mechashift capability for added reliability (he did not trust his mechanics skill enough so he decided to keep it simple-er), and to keep it in line with his style.
