Cobalt Bridges's 'Stranger's Greetings', a Weapon with a little Frills

When I finished Cobalt's character sheet and lore blurb, I was also finished his weapon of choice: Stranger's Greetings, a dual-staged linear motor assault rifle, combining traditional Dust-powder with rail gun mechanics for power and bullet velocity comparable to anti-tank rifles.

Backstory: The diversity of underground fight clubs in Mistral in general and Argus in particular means that Cobalt has tried nearly every fighting style there is. Fistfights, knives, swords, hammers, axes, maces, he had gone into matches at least once with them. After a lot of lost rounds, he finally settled on firearms, particularly automatic rifles, as his very much preferred form of combat. Less risks for him going up against people whose seem to be trending on melee weapons and Grimm in the future, he reasoned.

The power of normal Dust rifles, even Huntsmen-grade one, left him something to be desired, though. One day, when he was scrolling on the CCTNet, he came across some news article about Atlas's development into rail guns and their power compared to regular weaponry, and an idea struck him. The experimental rail gun shown is too big, and scaling it down would diminish its power considerably, but what if it could be combined with traditional guns to act as a second-stage booster? So, through the help of a friend of a friend who is a weaponsmith specialized in Huntsmen weaponry, he created and named Stranger's Greetings. He decided to not give the weapon mechashift capability for added reliability (he did not trust his mechanics skill enough so he decided to keep it simple-er), and to keep it in line with his style.

Question about posting

I wanted to post multiple photos on here, but it just keeps getting crunched and ugly. Single pic and it's fine, but 2 or more and it gets pixelated. How can i fix this?

Once again, welcome to part 4 in a series where against common sense, I give characters from RWBY real guns. in order of the team:

Summer Rose

- Like mother, like daughter, I picture Summer to be an excellent markswoman, just like Ruby. However, she would prioritize versatility more than sheer firepower, so she gets the M21 Sniper Weapon System, a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle based on the M14, with a Redfield 3-9x riflescope.

- As for her secondary, she gets a Smith & Wesson Model 39-2. A light and dandy single stack 9mm pistol.

Taiyang Xiao-Long

- Since his weapon of choice hasn't been revealed yet, the first and obvious thought is to give him something that would then inspire Yang. But then an idea struck me. The M240B General Purpose Machine Gun in 7.62x51mm NATO. I think it's like Tai in a way. Loud, imposing and handsome, somewhat annoying to be around and bring with but when it counts, it would put a smile on people's face and never let them down.

- And his sidearm, another duty classic, the Browning Hi-Power. 9mm Para, 13-round magazine. Reliable and good looking.

Raven Branwen

- A bandit don't always have the luxury of choosing their weapon, but Raven is one of the lucky few who does, with the Fabrique Nationale FAL 50.00 Battle Rifle. Long, accurate, nicknamed "The Right Arm of the Free World", it is found everywhere: National armies, non-state armies...mercenaries, warlords and bandits, just like Raven.

- But of course, a bandit is only as good as their appearance and intimidation factor in Remnant, so her choice of secondary is HER BOOMSTICK in the form of a sawn-off Remington Model 1900 Double Barrel Shotgun, used like a handgun.

Qrow Branwen

- With his status as Ozpin's agent (and triggerman), and Harbinger having a shotgun option, he gets a suppressed Remington 11-87 Semi-auto Shotgun. A very specific suppressed Remington 11-87 Semi-auto Shotgun. One can only hope that his Semblance doesn't influence his adversary's fate.

- As for his secondary, a novel handgun for the time, the Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten, chambered in 10mm Auto. Seeing her cool uncle's pistol in action directly influences Ruby's choice of pistol, some 30 years later.

(Note: Unlike the other entries, team STRQ is equipped with weapons from the mid-to-late Cold War era. My headcanon is that canon begins around 2013, so when this team is in Beacon, it would be in the mid '80s, a generation before RWBY and Co.)
