Just starting out with Bobbin lace

Just posting this for anyone who’s in the same situation as me.

Hi, I just started out with bobbin lace, and I’m really enjoying it. When I first saw the bobbins years ago and the material costs, I gave up on learning it because it was crazy expensive to buy the supplies online in my country. But I really, really wanted to learn it. Then one day on Instagram, I saw a creator using clothespins as bobbins, and seeing that opened up a whole world of DIY possibilities in my head.

So, after using DIY bobbins, these are my attempts.

I know they’re not great, but finally doing bobbin lace after stopping myself for such a long time really brought me joy.

Pic 2&3: Part of a rainbow motif - the creator’s pattern was expensive, so I just made do with whatever was available on her page and tried to copy it. It’s an experiment in progress, and I hope to improve more in the future. (Just wanted to see if I could make it using just the videos or will I have to eventually buy the patterns)

Pic 5: Carving my own bobbins (in progress)
