I was going to add this as an edit to my last post about Platner, but it opens up a new discussion, so here's a new one.

For those of you invoking my daughter and asking what I would think if she was the victim, for one that was addressed in the post. But also I have a less hypothetical example. My mother was assaulted twice in her life.

Both times she went to the police. Now it didn't go anywhere, but that was the step she took twice immediately correct the crime. And if those fuckers tried to run for office later, there'd at least be a paper trail, though this was long before Me Too.

I understand this stuff like this is painful and going to law enforcement is awkward. My mother said as much, but didn't regardless.

And that sucks, there's no two ways about it. But If you're not going to fight for yourself, you can't expect everyone else to fight for you later. Especially if you're afraid this person will do it again and you say nothing.

I don't buy that women are too weak to do this. The women in my life certainly aren't.

Now as to if it had been my daughter, I got some pretty disgusting comments, even for a sub as edgy as this one. But I also saw that Breaking Points comments almost uniformly dismissed the allegations, which make some suspect a fair share of Inauthentic activity here.

I would teach my daughter to also go to the police.

And I'll teach her a defensive driving mentality.

Not driving defensively does not put you at fault in a car accident. A drunk driver who hits you if you're not driving defensively still very much should go to jail.

And you have no legal obligation outside the law to drive defensively.

So let's not conflate two things here, or try to put words in my mouth. No victim is at fault. But if you ask what I would say to my daughter, that would be it. And always go to the police.

If these allegations are true, it would have been found out immediately, even if she'd declined to press charges.

Victims are not responsible for their assaults, and not going to the police doesn't automatically make the allegations false, but it also asks a lot of the rest of society.

Obviously, if it was bad enough to interfere with our electoral politics, then there is concern for a repeat offense. You can't ask the rest of us to fight for you if you declined to fight for others when you had the chance.

"Believe all women" also asks too much of society, both men and women. Beyond innocent until proven guilty, we all have a right to decide things based on a variety of factors.

Not acting until way after the fact is asking the rest of us to decide if our chosen leaders are worthy based on he said/she said stuff. If you're interested in justice, you've gotta meet us halfway.

Probably the most controversial thing I've ever posted, but as far as the Graham Platner accusations, maybe we should be more informed by revolutionary history than by Marvel movies.

If you'll remember the "dicks, pussies, and assholes" bit in Team America, I think it applies here. And the left is woefully short on dicks.

So it's tough to deny these new allegations (though the timing is super suspicious), but what's more important, a clean candidate or the economic survival of the working class, ending a genocide, and stopping actually evil tech oligarchs from creating an Ayn Randian Cyberpunk dystopia?

If you're familiar with Karl Marx's life, something like this wouldn't be hard to believe. Think of what we *do* know about Che Guevara.

In the Russian, French, Haitian, and South American revolutions, it wasn't the squeaky clean guys that put the bad guys in the guillotine or the firing squad. They often lacked the constitution to do what needed to be done.

Zohran and Bernie have done some great things, but guys like this are the exception, not the rule, and not the guys that last when power is REALLY challenged.

I could write an essay with specifics and examples, and probably will in the comments, but that's the general point.

Now to be clear, I'm not downplaying what allegedly happened. I'm a single dad of a daughter myself and would see red if something like this happened to her.

But right now, feeding her and providing for her needs is aging me fast, to say nothing of what kind of world will await her when she grows up

I work full time (48 hour shifts) AND do side jobs and I'm STILL broke three days after payday and worry if I can afford for her to do gymnastics this year. I don't spend shit on myself. I can't afford that kind of child care and always end up burdening friends and relatives. And of all the suffering in this current hellscape, mine is relatively mild.

My priority is my daughter's future as well as her current needs, not "standing up for women." I want a world where she can stand up on her own and not get fucked, figuratively, everyday like I do.

I'm not trying to be crass, but "consensually careless" is exactly the kind of trait I want in someone fighting for us against the Epstein Class.

Of course, he doesn't have much of a record to run on yet, but he's pissed off the right people.

Expired NREMT didn't realize

So I did my recert last year and renewed my state license.

I went to resubmit NREMT, there was an issue where I couldn't check out. I asked for tech support, then seemed to be able to complete the transaction.

I thought I had, but when I searched my email for it, all I see is the notice there was a cart dumping issue. Apparently it never went through.

My state license (GA) is still good, but how screwed am I?
