I have a 97% eclipse happening where I am this evening at 7pm local (6pm GMT)

The sun will be at 280° degrees azimuth and 10° off the horizon.....

I'm wondering if any weird DX opportunities may happen when I'm in the full shadow line...

What might I expect to happen (if anything)

This is the last chance for me to experiment until we're here again in 2090 so I'm eager o see what if anything might happen to the atmosphere at the time of full eclipse...

I'm torn between there being no change whatsoever or it will promote a very sporadic effect somehow (but im not sure what)

Which one to get... i have a vw t25 with limited space inside for massive jacks and axle stands...

What would be better... a trolley jack and axle stands or a bottle jack and axle stands?

Does anyone here use a bottle jack happily?

I'm a little concerned about clearance with a bottle jack as they are taller... but I don't really want a massive trolley jack in the van if I can avoid it..

I've just finished both the "got to get Theroux this" and Theroux the Keyhole...

I really enjoyed them both and listened to both twice.

Both books are great. I liked all the historical background to his documentaries in "got to" and especially loved all the Family interactions in "keyhole" his kids embarrisment of their dad racked, cracked me up many times.

I absolutely loved both books.

Has anyone read the first book?

I'm reticent of using an Audible credit.on a short book but i.may well get it as the other two were so enjoyable to listen to..

I hope he brings out a follow up of the years past covid...

I just managed a 1444 mile contact from Sussex in England up to the Arctic Circle on 20 meters using 15 watts and a 56 foot random wire and 9-1 balun thats in a tree, starting on the floor.. inverted L with a bend and drop at the end. In my basement house. Very compromised

I'm absolutely stoked. Åage from KVALØYSLETTA (LA1CI) was really nice and was a strong 55 57. He was using 100 watts on a qrp rig.

Amazing. Its not the furthest I've spoken to but its got a certain cache talking ssb into the arctic circle.

Anyway.. I thought I'd share it with you fine people.

It unwinds well enough but when I try to raise the glass it slips and sounds like the "gear" is slipping..

Are there toothed gears behind the door that might be worn or broken? I couldn't see what is going on behind the panel.

Its a 1988 t25 and im in britian BTW.
