Melted wiring and relay (?)
The saga continues with my “came with the property” 92 hardbody. I jump started her (named her Crusty) after adding fresh fuel and checking fluids. She fired up but ran really rough. Before spending money on a questionable engine for tuneup parts of plugs, wires, cap and rotor and filters I figured I should check compression.
I was getting ready to do that and found this melted connector by the air box. I’m not sure if this was existing or happened when I jumped it last. I didn’t notice or smell anything burning and it doesn’t smell now so I think it’s old. Does anyone know what this relay/resistor does? Or a non melted photo might help me with some identifying numbers. The single wire that isn’t connected to anything on the connector end was connected to a wire that is burnt on the other end (top of last photo) and seems to go nowhere.
The good news is after looking over the rest of the engine bay that seems to be the only damaged area. Thanks again for any insight!
