Looking to see if this nipple is a vent or needs to be connected to a vacuum line. I didn't see any loose ones, but wanted to be sure.

I was chasing down a P0103 code and was looking for leaks on the intake side in addition to cleaning up the massive amounts of oil and gunk, so hopefully cleaning the PCT helped since a different MAF didn't.

(1997 Volvo 850 T5) Looking to help identify this part and it's purpose/necessity. I was replacing spark plugs and wires and noticed this plastic cap was broken. In other videos of 850s/V70s it's absent. Was chasing a bunch of codes, but doubt this is causing my P0103 code which is the only one left after new plugs, wires, rotor, and cap, but figured I should replace it since it's broken.
