How can I get my mom to try new things

My mom (f45) and I (f19) have had a tumultuous relationship to say the least. However in the last year or so before I left for college we had gotten closer. I realized that I was leaving her with two toddlers to raise with no help from her incompetant husband and my heart broke:( She pays the bills and takes on all the emotional support for her family and his. She has nothing outside of her kids and evn though I feel bad theres only so much I can relate to. I twll her to try therapy, get hobbies, take herself to dinner etc. but shes too scared/embarrassed to do it herself for some reason. I buy her cute clothes, makeup and jewelry but she always says when she loses weight or when we move to a house. I dont want to make her uncomfortable but having nothing outside of a loser husband, children who have to live their own lives and a family that just takes everything is my worst nightmare. Any advice on how to push her to try these things? Were in the nyc area so if theres any facebook groups etc:)

Paying for college out of pocket

I have applied for every financial aid thing that my state offers (NY), I also go to a state school. Even while doing this I still have to pay about 7000 a semester out of pocket to attend. This is also the best cost per attendance I have so transferring is out of the question. The only other option is to drop out and work but then I would have to reapply and get into my major again that has a 5% acceptance rate. I have applied for jobs and I plan to apply to be an RA next year but in the meantime is there anyway to pay this off this year? I am also open to outsourcing loans (I already got everything I could from state and federal). Any advice would be appreciated.

Some things to keep in mind:

- Yes I am a dependent but I also have to pay for it by myself

- I have like 1000 dollars in savings that would not even make a dent and I need for necessities

- I am looking for jobs and trying transfer to a location closer to my school

- I am applying to scholarships but this needs to be resolved quicker than I would probably get the money.

What laptop should I choose for college?

I have a 1k budget and I want to get a new laptop. I have the ASUS vivobook ($600ish) and I don't know if its the anti virus software but it is incredibly slow and I dont like the plastic hardware. Im a nursing major so I don't have any preference on alot I just need metal hardware, good battery life, support light gaming and also writing. I don't want to get a Macbook because I prefer windows. I was going to get the Microsoft Surface but then I saw a debate about Snapdragon vs. Intel. Any help would be appreciated.LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
