2 questions about 2003 and 1996 civic:

first one about the 2003. in regards to the timing belt breaking, if/when this happens will the engine crash into itself or be able to protect itself? i'm basically asking if it's an interference or non-interference engine as i haven't gotten a clear answer elsewhere (edit: important info i missed!! i don't have the SI trim so it's not that 2.0L engine it's the smaller one)

second is about the 1996. not a specific question, but what are any known issues the 1996 has?

to keep the story short, i might get my 2003 swapped out for a 1996 if i wait for the seller to reconstruct it's title. i heard from my previous post here that the 2003 is basically the worst civic i could have gotten and so i wanna check and see if the 1996 is a better option. for the record the 1996 has around 250,000 when i peaked my head threw the window

just got a 2003 civic, what should i know?

some more important info: the mileage is around 205,020 last i checked and it has the automatic transmission (which you can tell both of these things by the 2nd picture) also i believe it's the LX trim but that's according to a vin decoder website so who knows!

anyway as the title insists i just wanna know any major important stuff to keep this car running a long time and also maybe some fun/good to know stuff about this type of car

and another thing that i'm sure sounds great but should be said, i have absolutely no service history about this car (but i will soon try to see if the seller has anything)

Welp just as the title asks, cuz I was wondering if I would notice better performance headroom and battery life if I just switched it to nova launcher
