Been experimenting with using Scrooge less like a drum machine and more as a rhythmic gate source.

Here it’s triggering the gates on Elmyra 2, while I’m also running Scrooge through Elmyra and distorting it. DarkSky is doing the huge spacey stuff on top.

There’s no kick and not really a conventional drum pattern either, but somehow the whole thing started grooving.

Someone compared it to Jeroen Tel’s RoboCop 3 soundtrack on the NES, which I can kind of hear now 😅

Made this glitchy breakbeat jam by syncing the Arturia DrumBrute Impact with the Neutral Labs Scrooge, with the Scrooge running through a Line 6 HX Stomp XL.

I originally recorded the whole thing around 80 BPM and only afterwards tried speeding the video up. At ~130 BPM it suddenly had way more energy, so I kept it that way.

Really like how weird and broken the Scrooge can get next to the DrumBrute.

Ran the MPC through the Elmyra 2 to see how far I could push the distortion. I also sent CV from the MPC into the Elmyra to create a rhythmic filter pattern.

Ended up way more industrial than I originally planned, but I really liked where it went.
