Team Selection and what is North trying to do?

So we find ourselves sitting 4-6 and 12th on the ladder and wildcard round appears to be dangling like a carrot to a club desperate to say they "are back in finals"

There are 2 different ways we can pick the squad

Option A) Chasing a wildcard finals spot.

Option B) Games into young tslent

Currently there are 7 teams that look fairly locked in for finals Swans, Freo, Cats, Suns, Hawks, Lions, Demons.

The club believes that we are part of the chasing pack and with some easy fixturing to come maybe we can finish 10th.

So our team selection is based on that. We pick the most experienced and oldest players to give ourselves the best shot at winning games (or so the coaches believe) at the expense of younger players.

Hardeman, Harvey, Whitlock, Banch, Dovaston, Dawson and George are all being kept out by the likes of Daniel, McDonald, Konstanty, Spargo, Zurharr, Logue, Darling and Corr.

Are we really better off playing Daniel, Zurharr & McDonald over Harvey and Hardeman?

Are we really better off playing Konstanty and Spargo over Banch, Dovaston and George?

We've drafted Dawson as a key defender but apparently the worst defense in the game wouldn't be improved by him spending maybe 20% a game playing there?

I truly believe the club needs to bite the bullet and play youth over age and back the kids to win the winnable games. I firmly believe we can still beat Eagles, Port, Essendon and Tigers with a young side.

Back in the youth to get it done and if they can't well we've figured out they won't hack it so get rid of them.
