I know there are a number of great fics where Jayce helps Viktor during his recovery from back surgery. this one specifically involved Viktor getting a spinal fusion.

it was multi-chapter with an established relationship. Viktor had a difficult recovery and feared that he wouldn't regain the mobility he had before the surgery. I remember a particular scene where a physical therapist visited Viktor at home while Jayce was out and treated him very badly.

does anyone remember this fic's title or author? any leads are appreciated 🙏

I recently read On the Brink of Forever by broccolicheddarchicken (in which Ilya dies in a plane crash and Shane is left with his grief) and The Five Year Farewell by Ilya_Was_Here (in which Ilya has dementia and eventually dies).

beautiful fics. I cried buckets. I would love to read more hollanov fics that are similar, ones that don't pull their punches and dig into the messiness of intense grief.

while the two fics I mentioned above involve Shane losing Ilya, I'm also interested in stories exploring the opposite situation or even fics where Shane and Ilya are dealing with grief surrounding a different character's death.

full disclosure -- I understand that MCD fics aren't for everyone and that some readers don't understand why anyone would want to engage with such sad stories. personally, I find reading about grief to be cathartic due to my own experiences, but people like reading about these topics for any number of reasons or for no reason at all.
