Danke :)
Hi everyone, I need some advice. Height 184 cm, inseam ~87.5 cm.
I'm looking to upgrade my bike and am now oscillating between the models in the title.
I'm currently owning an Ultimate CF SL 7 in L. The size is generally fine, however, I always feel just a tiny bit too much stretched out, which makes me hanging in my shoulders when I ride > 1.5-2 hours. I never tried a shorter stem because I didn't want to pay 400€ for the integrated cockpit, but moved my saddle forward.
Aeroad:
Hence, as I wanted to upgrade I reconsidered the size. I've ridden both sizes, and it's really a close call. The M feels a bit small, although that might be because I'm not used to it, but I'm afraid it'll become too exhausting on longer rides. The stem was all the way up with all the spacers, and I feel like removing any of them would be to far down. So I'm afraid there's little options for adjustment. Of course, it felt a little more agile.
The L felt extremely similar to my Ultimate, so I'd assume I might have the same issues - but generally the frame felt okay.
I know that, when in doubt, you should generally size down. I'm just afraid that the stack on the M might be just too low. Is it maybe an option to go for M and get a longer stem / PACE cockpit thingy or with an L and a shorter one?
Shave FF:
I've also tested this bike, and it felt best - although there really is only a tiny difference to Aeroad M.
I'd prefer an Aeroad over the Shave FF because it's a little cheaper (comparing the Rival / 105 models on the Aeroad vs. Ultegra / Force on Shave; I know it's a higher tier groupset but I'd be satisfied with 105/Rival and you can't buy the Shave with them), and I think it's just a little more beautiful. However, I would not sacrifice the comfort / fit for it.
I'd be happy for any advice.
